Would be cool, when the trees, grass etc would change it's appearance as seasons passing by. Right now it is snowing but trees still have leaves and the grass is lush green. Maybe in wintertime the yield from trees could be reduced while it is increeased in springtime...just an idea...
I believe this is handled by the version of the UO client we're running. I'm not sure if the staff can make a runuo script to change this, but it would definitely require addition map files to be installed as well.
I saw a UO vid on Youtube and Moonglow had snow on the ground, was pretty cool. Maybe spawn frost spiders and snow ele out in the forest if snow spreads south?
It's based on your client patch, If you have a higher patch some areas have snow where as lower ones don't. You would have to change ur mul files manually to do it, but a cool idea none the less if it automatically did this.
Cool idea but there's more important shit to work on than a thing like this, weapon damage, pvp balance should take priority over anything else atm imo. Then spawn /drops.
We actually looked into this long ago when we converted Felucca from the barren bloody wasteland to looking more like the UO we remember. However you are correct, we do prioritize all issues and make sure the important ones are on the top of the list, however there are several of us working on things, so sometimes when Ezekiel isn't around for combat testing I will spend my time fixing little things. As you can see from the patch notes we usually fix a few big things and a few minor things with each patch. An example of this is for patch 23/24 we are working on combat accuracy, the effect of active and passive wrestling on hit success rates. I am also about 40-50% done on creating a new loot system for the monsters that gives us 25 grades of monsters loot, allowing for subdivision of loot. For instance we could grade a daemon Grade 4 gold, Grade 11 magic items, + a broadsword. Right now looking at a monster script, is a nightmare translating that to actual loot that drops on them.
I think this could actually be handled on the player side in player guides. Not the spawn of course, but I think the snowy ground is just an mul file change, like the tree hack. If I get some time to research and test it out I'll be happy to write a guide on how to 'season' your client.
