Absolutely never going to agree with custom housing. I would love the chance to make a lovely 'perfect' house, but I will not play somewhere that the above posted pictures are even remotely possible. It is %100 certain that people will create the most ghastly shit possible.

I am fully in support of another client patch that provides half a dozen or so staff/player designed deed type homes.

I would love to see a medium home 11x11 or so, with an atrium (single tile or 2x2 grass area). I don't think large keep owners should be the only one's with the ability to recall into their houses. :)

Yeah, definitely agree on placement restrictions for swamp/marsh style houes.

Yeah, I originally made these to spark interest. By no means would these designs be used, but something similar could be accomplished and would fit in with the surrounding landscape.

I like that on this shard, one is forced to work on housing deco within the confines of what is available. It forces people to be creative, and of course helps limit the amount of awful eyesores.

Lethius, that post was amazing. I am still laughing at that last house.

Wulver's buildings are definitely great. I would definitely like to see some of these designs (or other new ones) get introduced someday in the future.

Absolutely not, the only type of custom housing should be build by admins. I have the source code from Rel Por and the custom houses they made. I would be more than happy to share with the Admins if they were interested in adding any of that content. But to put it in the hands of the player base, no way.

    Share da code !!

Players can adapt it, work with it, and submit it to Telamon & Co. for review/testing/approval

    Thanks

I'm not a fan of custom eyesores, plus you're opening the door for a variety of house break in options.

I could get behind the ability to customize the inside of existing homes, in a limited fashion.

For example, I would kill to remove all the little rooms from my Fort and just make it one big open space. I think being able to move/add/remove interior walls and doors should be the largest house customization options allowed.

Haha. Couldn't resist. I like the option that players with skill design houses which could get introduced by means of an event like the house deco where results are determined by shard and admin votes.

I'd like to see this as well, but I'd do it a slightly different way:

    1. Enable on test. No house designing on production.

    2. Only allow the objects which are used in the other UOR houses. So, no lava or waterfalls or any of the other available graphics.

    3. Pay gold or platinum to get Chris to take your test design and make a house deed out of it.

    4. Chris must approve the design, agreeing that it fits the aesthetic of the server. Mix and match marble, sandstone and plaster at your peril.

    5. The house deed goes on a vendor permanently. Anyone can buy it and you can buy more than one. So nobody gets an exclusive custom house -- if folks like your design they can have it too.

    6. Deeds cost 10k gold per tile. This means a 7x7 custom small costs 350k gold while a 3--floor 18x18 is a cool 10M.

This way we have no empty plots or butt-ugly houses littering the landscape. Also, it turns custom houses into a gold sink for advanced players -- the cool kids don't have fortresses any more, they have customs.

Just happened to find an image of a house I designed on Siege. The walls were double thick to protect from spells being cast through. There are some tiles that allow for this - something to consider, particularly with the 'curvy' stone pieces.

The only way I think this shard should allow custom housing is if it's a design made by someone that can be applied shard-wide, like the fortress/keep.

You can't trust UO players with that house design non-sense. Place would end up looking horrible in no time.

This house is amazing. I would support new implementations of houses on the shard. It can be a great plat or gold sink and will bring a variety that will spice up the server. As well make our shard a bit more special than it is now.
