Where should i put a house?

So i finally have enough to put a house, small marble workshop or possibly a stone tower up and i sort of need to as my bank box's are getting a bit over filled. Any location dos/donts or anything else i should consider when placing a house? I don't think i have anything worth a vendor yet but possibly in the future i will. Appreciate feedback.

You seem like a newb, which means your accounts are not fully developed. With that in mind, I would pick a house near a moongate so your undeveloped chars can easily run to and from town doing shit that new players do. Trinsic comes to mind.

House placement is purely up to the player, my preference has always been for a secluded area located on grass. Ideally somewhere close to town so that if you need to make a run it's a simple jog, but if your characters can recall then anywhere is fine really.

I've got a few tips, but it's mostly up to you depending on what you want... For instance swamp houses are terrible in my opinion, but if you want to farm spined leather then it can be convenient.

• Try to avoid swamp areas as there's lots of spawn and poisonous critters.
• Try to avoid islands, that way if you die you aren't stuck.
• If you plan on making a smith, a location near mines/mountains is super useful.
• If you plan on making a fisherman, you can even fish off the roof of some houses.
• The desert is full of poisonous spawn, so try to avoid that.
• Areas with lots of monster spawn (i.e. North of Shame, Trinsic Jungles) can be frustrating, there's nothing worse than recalling and being bum rushed by 3 orcs, a lizardman and a water elemental.
• Areas close to an ankh/shrine can be useful if you cannot resurrect your characters.
• If you find a perfect area but there are lots of red names inside the houses nearby, it's better off to look elsewhere unless you like being killed often.

Finally, IF YOU FIND A PLACE THAT HAS A SILVER SERPENT SPAWN NEARBY BURN THE HOUSE DOWN. No matter how good you are at this game, silver serpents are better.

I say take some time figuring what area you like, and hey if you hate it move the house!! I would suggest making sure to have security set up (need tips feel free to pm) also don't carry a house rune keep in your bank.

If you’re looking for PvP place your house near Wrong or Ice. If you don’t appreciate bwing reskilled constantly, avoid the area.

Thanks for the pointers everyone. Do you all think it's best to place a small tower if i can afford it over a small house or small workshop? Aside from being bigger is there any other benefits that need to be weighed out? I do plan on doing some macroing there.

Thank you everyone. You helped sway me in the direction that i was hoping for-- the small stone tower is worth placing since i can afford it ( and still not be totally broke ). I guess part of me thought my first house needed to be very small and very conservative just because it was my first.

Now that you say fishing off the roof is possible and i believe two people have said that now. Is there good money in fishing? I don't get why people fish?

I don't get why people on here fish, hear rumors if you have 3 fishers on one boat you can sometimes make money.. I think it's a rumor. NO money in fishing from your roof top just a ton and I mean a TON of fish steaks no one really wants

You can make money fishing from a boat.
There are guides for that on here.

Fishing from roof is good for gaining the skill to 99.9 fully afk.

I personally like to mine from a house.

Remember that you can always redeed the house and sell it back to the vendor for full price.
