Serious question about active gameplay.

    Hey all. Serious question.

    Just read the thread Earsnot posted about play time. Seems like a lot of us play play very seldom, especially the established vets.

    I would like to know what would genuinely get you to have more active play time here? Not just 10 to 30 mins refreshing and collecting BoDs etc..

    I am hoping to get a sense of this and see if I can help in anyway. Please let me know .

    I think the halloween event and RP possibilities that Telamon alluded to could be something to get people interested again. I've always thought the RP events like the virtue wars that were ongoing and involved people in a storyline were fun.

    Aside from that, I'd imagine a ton of people would come back if/when Cub/moats/carp bods and such get implemented

    Rewards that changed in different areas of the game would keep things fresh. I'll narrow it down to one example, amibs. I think they're great fun but after so many, it gets a bit stale.

    I think if the rewards changed up, or having the chance to spawn a bonus boss would be great.

    I think it would help Chris from the creative aspect since it would take existing instances and just changing little things here and there instead of creating brand new instances.

    That said, I can't wait to see the new dungeons for NoH and he impresses me with each event.

    I remember reading somewhere, and I'm high A/F right now so please take this with a pinch of weed and fact check me, but wasn't there something at one time about player made quests with objectives? As in you could create a purchasable quest scroll with targets and goals that unlocked different rewards and cool shit like that?

    So you could make a quest that requires you to slay 20 mongbats and the rewards a black dye tub or whatever you want? All created by a player.

    That idea was dope.

    Anyway....what would get me sitting down for a longer time would be CUB & new plat rewards.

    I fucking love UOR, I really do. It's amazing. And I think it's amazing because of how carefully and precisely Telamon executes every one of his ideas. I can't knock that, I have no beef with that. However, I know he let Treasureman handle this new Halloween dungeon/place. And it looks fucking amazing, it would be cool if more stuff like that could happen, or a few more specific roles could be allocated to trusted vets or a group of trusted vets, like Charlirman of CTF, Curator of Rewards, Community Outreach Directors, Parks and Recreation department....limit these people's ability to create a secret house with millions of gold cheques in it....safeguard what you can and all that jazz....but maybe letting some of the nuts run the nut house would be rad. Cause the only thing we're really crazy about is UOR. I would love to be able to invest more of my time into other aspects of this game in some sort of element like that or happy to just enjoy its conceptual evolution.

    I still think we need a player run judicial system where we meet in the Accusatorium aka the Yew Hall of Justice and put people on trial!

    Above land champion options for any ogre or ettin or harpy, bandit, orc or the like (not on ocllo). Give people a reason to wander in the bush.

    BOD items have been cheaper on player vendors.
    That's cool.

    I have also seen more vendors stocked with stealable items.
    And! there was one dude that had platemail.

    I honestly think this server has everything already needed minus one thing:

    1) Reason for us to do our own events and/or ways progress as a guild or community.

    The staff have already put in so much work.. and it requires so much freaking time to add or continually put on staff run things. I think the key to a vibrant and active Brittania at this point in its life cycle is to have the 300-500+ playebase to be putting on events, activities, tournaments, etc.

    The point of any and all RPGs is the advancement of your avatar, your team or guild, or your objective.

    I think what the server needs is a way for us, the players, to continue our progress that goes beyond just collecting more rares(isn’t that what most of us do now? Is there anything else we keep playing for?)

    The highlight of my UO memory is earning a title through my guild back in 1999. I still remember it to this day. To earn the title, I had to become a grandmaster in Margery and complete a quest line given to me by my guild master. Not some staff member or paid employee. By a fellow player.

    Again, my thought is to give incentive for players to create more of the content.. not Chris or other staff member.

    On one hand, I don't think its realistic to expect vets to play as much as newer people. IF anything, the people i see who stick around the longest are the ones that try to find a balance and limit their gameplay.

    On the other hand, my time zone is asia/pacific. I miss alot of CTFs, and random events. It would be cool if some of that was a little more automated. Maybe something like when 8 people go into event center and click on the books to sign up for ctf, it could start automated.

    That's at least one person that would be back.

    Bixby and I played another server that had gardening. It was poorly populated and we only played about 6 months, but we had a blast with gardening.

    I agree with this. I would love to some reward changes in smithing and tailoring bods. That shouldn't be too difficult.
