@wylwrk I've obviously missed that memo, was that in dev notes or something?

Cause I'd happily not bother with my CUB houses and just drop them right now if that's the case.

Having Cub houses do 2 negative things.

    1. Impacting the server time loads.
    2. Taking up space for possible new players.

I don't think CUB will ever happen to be honest. Theres only a small timeframe for work to actually be done on it in between holiday events. In those small timeframes, there's probably either burnout, flaming bags of drama landing on Chris' doorstep to deal with, or times where he's probably so fed up with it all that we're probably closer to him pulling the plug than giving any more content. It's not a knock on Chris but it just is what it is. I understand *why* he's not putting it in, because missing one little thing will cause some jerk to abuse the hell out of it, and he probably doesnt' have the time and/or energy to work on it with RL and putting out so many fires that flare up around here.

1 house per character, so up to 5 per account.

I own two forts. One that is my main and another which I hold onto for value (much like some hold onto hcoin, plat, or rares).

I am very gold poor now. In the event I need fast cash then the extra fort is my ticket. My other houses block the immediate area around my main fort, because neighbors can be assholes.

I can't think of anyone that holds 15 houses, or anywhere near that.

As far as CUB, I haven't heard anything official that items already owned will be of little value. The only official statement I've read is that selling items to vendors should be more profitable than copper coin. I take that with a grain of salt, though.

Even if this was the case, it wouldn't change much. Sure, I would stop collecting. I wouldn't, however, waste time selling this crap to vendors. It's easier to just refresh the storage house every two weeks and let the shit rot. Considering my horde of crap was used to help design the system, I'm hoping that Telamon wouldn't do something like this.

I hold horse racing in the CY of my castle. The fort is used the same way during inclement weather.

My biggest house is a L shape. I like smalls around for my mining, can stash stuff fast and have a place to hide. I see spots around for houses and think up to a large tower you can get pretty close to deed, unless it's a killer location.

Most people don't own too many houses, but there are several "player towns" that are full of empty buildings, or buildings that were just decorated and never intended to actually be used. Alot of these get refreshed by one or two people. The people refreshing dont own the towns (15 house limit) so if they stop refreshing, the houses would fall. They can't really or don't really use them anyways, but they either want to keep their town looking the same, or limit players abilities to place next to their town. Off the top of my head these groups have player villages, PS, TnT, StormHold, Wispfelt, VoP. Some of these towns are small (wispfelt), some are still active, some are inactive, some are making a come back. I know from talking to Sir billy of tnt, he intends to refresh players houses of people who haven't played here in years or who he hasn't heard back from, forever.

I almost want to go through and take pics of the emptiest biggiest player towns and point out how many buildings actually get used... but i think some people would get offended by that.

And this is where we push for condemnded housing status. If you haven't logged into your account in 6 months, your houses shouldn't be able to be refreshed. (except with GM exception, Military Deployment, etc. etc)

Hi, I own Wispfelt. . If you are familiar with the it, you would note that it has been downsized considerly. I also got rid of my Moonglow log. Due to certian real life issues I haven't been able to sort the items from houses I demolished. I welcome everyone to visit the village, enjoy the garden n open houses including the Rune library. It's above West Brit Crossroads. The only thing I ask, is no aggression against other players within Wispfelt the village is my gift to the service n all its players.

Even with player villages, people refreshing houses for players who haven't been around in years, players holding onto houses for value or trolling, etc...

Has it made any difference? I have yet, in my years playing this server, found anyone complaining that they couldn't easily obtain whatever size house they wanted. Exception being the end game housing like large keeps, castles, forts, or vendor/bank housing.

You may not be able to place a large house here. You could definitely buy one after a few days of grinding, and at close to deed cost. I would wager that a new player could farm enough to buy a large tower after a week (from a reasonable seller). I think this is fair at the current age of this server. In year 1 it took me about a month to farm enough to buy a fort deed and place it where it sits today. You could farm enough gold for a fort deed in a couple of days now, depending on events/guild/etc...

I don't think it's fair to say that a new player is going to leave this server because he can't get an end-game house after a few weeks playing here. I think the market for a fort is around 20M now? That's obtainable after a couple of months of farming, less if you know what you're doing.

Unlike most players that have made a bit of cash, I live out of a patio house and only have houses in places that are useful to me such as my mining house or houses at spawn locations.

I don't have a CUB house... that craps in my main house... its everything I own.
