    July 4th Weekend Fishing Tournament
    Over 5 million in prizes!
Friday, July 1st to Monday July 4th, 2022

During the previous fishing tournaments, one of the pirate seacamps was located and attacked.
Unbeknownst to the angler, one of the pirates was able to escape on a small rowboat.

Without a sail and adrift, the pirate used his bow to barely stay alive on sealife. However his luck failed him after 3 nights. Desperately hungry during a rising moon, the pirate lodged his tethered arrow into a sea serpent which his eyes caught as a school of fish. The pirate was promptly pulled overboard into the depths. As the lost soul was being taken down, the commotion of the moving waters alerted a nearby deep serpent which quickly attacked and took the upper portion of the body; the lesser serpent consumed the lower, but bigger half.

It was but a crusty tale that arose from The Keg and Anchor last I was there late one evening… or so I thought.

After several more ales, Edria the barkeep informed me that two serpents had recently been caught by two avid angers and they left the remains from said pirate. She told me that I am to give them away in the next fishing tournament. “Bah!”, I remarked. “Don’t fool with me at this hour….”

Dakarai, the tavern keeper, motioned me to the bar and from behind, he produced these prizes.

Big Fish datestamp must be between 7/1/2022 and 7/4//2022.
Winning fish will be verified ingame so keep fish until end of tourney.
Mounting a trophy fish will remove the datestamp.

    Rules:
    * The tournament will be held Friday, July 1st to Monday, July 4th, 2022. All fish weighed in must have a datestamp on or between those dates. (Note: datestamp is based on UO:R time, US Central, -5 UTC)
    * Prizes will be distributed the following week.
    * Fish weighed in will be credited to the angler, not who turns. Anyone can submit fish for any angler. Angler must be present to claim winnings.
    * Use as many fishers as you like. Again, fish is credited to angler marked on fish. (some players use more than 1 fisher)
    * An angler can only place 1 fish in biggest and smallest categories. For example, Fisher X might have a 10 stone and a 12 stone fish however only the 10 stone will be credited in the smallest category. In addition, Fisher X can also place in biggest with a 199 stone fish.
    * No sign up required! Simply post a screen shot of your catch but keep it for prize reward and... DO NOT MOUNT FISH. Mounting a fish will erase datestamp. Fish will need to be verified ingame to collect your prize. Only fish weight will only be recorded. You keep your catch.
    * Anglers tied will split the prizes of the two respective places. For example, Anglers tied for 2nd place will split the winnings for 2nd and 3rd place.

    Notes on Fishing:
Double-click on a fishing pole, then click on a body of water. If successful, you will catch a fish. You might catch something more interesting than a fish. Success with this skill also depends on the availability of fish in that specific area.
Skill 0-65 - On land you will fish up Magic Fish, and Normal Fish.
80+ - Sea Serpents (No SoS Message), Special Fishing Nets
from a boat in deep waters.
90+ - Treasure Maps 100 - Messages in a Bottle (aka MIB) / Waterstained SoS Message from a boat in deep waters.
95+ - You can reel in Big Fish which can be used to make Trophies via Taxidermy Kits. Big Fish are loot on sea serpents (like treasure maps, ancient messages in a bottle, and special fishing nets) from a boat in deep waters.
You can get to 100 skill/Grandmaster fishing from land. Once you have attained 95+ fishing, acquire a boat. They are player-made (check player vendors, forums, or Discord). You will need a boat to get offshore into deep water to catch Big Fish. Deep waters are generally around 10 tiles from shoreline depending on the area.

    Log & Leaderboard updated.

Sunning has a firm grip on 1st smallest with a nice 3 stoner.
He bumped down Antartic's very respectful 8. I bet the angler was surprised to be topped so quickly!
Both fish will be hard to beat.

Meanwhile... biggest fish is wide open with 1st weighing in at 177 stones.
