Keza's Ultra Plat Sink Auction - Event!

Hello all, my time here as a player has come to an end. I intend to exit the same way I played, by helping the server.
Starting February 4th 2023, this plat-only auction will go live! Think of this like a temporary plat store, but auction style!

All sales must be platinum ONLY and all timers end 96 hour after the final bid. Yes its a long timer, I expect the auction to go most of February. So why plat-only and how does this help the server? As many know, there is a lot of plat out in the world and nothing new to buy with it. My auction will provide a one time chance to use some of that excess plat and remove it from the economy. Sometime in March, I will gather all the 60k piles of plat obtained from the auction and delete them forever. Happy bidding!

Note: bidding posts before February 4th will be removed. Other (on topic) comments and questions are allowed.

Rules​

For reference on the primary rules for the trading forums, see Code of Conduct link. This auction will be much like others with bids slowly driving up the price of items. There will be NO BUYOUT for any item(s). After a player has the highest bid standing for 96 hours, they are the "winner". Winners must setup full payment within 96 hours (4 days of winning). Failure to do so will result in the item(s) going to the second highest bidder. If they cannot pay in 96 hours, the item(s) go the the third highest bidder and so on.

The payment/transfer process will be simple, send me a PM here or in discord with the item(s) won, amount, and where the payment amount is located (x,y,z coords). After confirming, I will transport the item(s) to the location and collect the platinum coins. Yes, this transfer method is a bit Trammel, and my apologizes to the thieves who will not benefit from the possible stolen goods.

Bidders must clearly state the amount of plat they are bidding and on which item(s). BI or bidding increments must be reasonable given the item being bid on. I have made a list of BI to be followed for this specific auction:
Currently value of 1-30 plat ____BI: 1 plat
Currently value of 31-100 plat __BI: 5 plat
Currently value of 101-500 plat _BI: 10 plat
Currently value of 501-1000 plat BI: 25 plat
Currently value of 1000+ plat ___BI: 100 plat

Ha, you are correct! One of the reasons I posted for a later start date is to iron out all the possible errors with such a large auction. If you or anyone else see's other issues let me know. I will continue to add and make small updates until it starts on Feb 4th.

Sad to hear the news Keza. Are you sticking around as a GM? Or moving on completely?

Its not a 100% quit, I will be around here and there. Just no need for me to continue refreshing stuff that I wont use. Better to let others use the items and houses I once enjoyed.

So a bunch of rich people will get more rich by spending a fake commodity that only a select few rich people have? Then they will just re-farm the fake commodity and nothing will have changed. Hate to see you go though, hope all is well.

I assume what you meant to say was those rich people who spend countless hours acquiring that fake commodity while others decide to spend their time running around in groups of 3-5 reds ganking those who use their hours to farm commodities which you consider valueless?

what would be great for the server is an actual GM who created and added new things to the server to spend the fake commodities on... Keza is doing what he can to help the situation.. Instead of being a jerk, maybe, just maybe have a decent attitude which may bring actual leadership to the server?

I'm not bashing Kezas choice to quit playing here in order to focus on GMing. I'm actually surprised he didn't do that years ago considering "staff don't play here" is one of the first things you read on the UOR webpage. Glad to see him stepping up.

This auction for plat only, being framed up as some sort of service to the server when it's really just a way to exclude many new players from the ability to bid is a joke tho.

Very much doubt his soul reason is to exclude new players, that's not even the glass is half full point of view, but like the glass is totally empty point of view if you ask me.

The next time I quit, I will sell raffle tickets for 100k GP each (max 5 entries per person). Then use an auto number generator/roll thingy and do a live stream of who won what. That seems like it would be fun.

Hate to see you go Keza, you've spent just as much time here, if not more, than anyone else. Your love for the game and server is crystal clear and we all appreciate your videos, you content and posts. I always direct new people to your YouTube channel to watch your crazy builds and videos. I do agree with the above posts, though. You're limiting this auction to people that have been abusing the plat system, with nothing in place to prevent it from happening again. A plat sink is absolutely needed, but I don't think this is the way to do it.

I'd vote for something like a GM controlled auction with several unique items, eg a hooded shroud named "I helped fix the plat system" with a SB of 60k plat. You'll have to give people a huge incentive to dump their stockpile of plat. Ideally, this would run at the same time as a change to the plat system.

Forgive my ignorance as I've been mostly gone for years, but by abuse do you mean no-life-ing spawns with triple boxing, but essentially only exploiting the mechanics as they were designed, in ways that anyone else could if they also no-life it? Or something even nerdier than that?

Whats going to happen to all the plat made form this event? Will it get trash barreled or given away to your friends that have all the plat to buy all your items anyway? Mine as well skip the antics and just give it all to them.

it's a little disappointing to me when people use the word 'quit'... i wish more people would say, taking a break. even if it's for a year or two etc.. seeing people "quit" lately is a little disheartening. will miss you keza, and im sure i speak for the whole server when i say we do look forward to seeing you around 'here and there' as you say

No not the whole post. Honestly I stopped when I threw up in my mouth just thinking about the sham of an "auction" to help the server. Mine as well say all my friends ran out of stuff to buy with their hoards of plat so I'm going to give my enemies one last proverbial middle finger.
