Looking for ideas on my orc mojaka. Right now I have him as a Stun/Scribe. Typically when orcs raid we have a ratio of 4 dexxers per 1 mage. The mages main role is support heals, stone wall krimps, dispell summons, ect... So, this is not going to be a 1v1 set-up. Should I look into Healing over Inscription? Or something else?
If you are going in a group all the time, I would drop stun (orcs are on foot no? chase a guy around trying to stun him) and pick up poison. Even if you aren't close enough to get the DP off you will still greater poison and it will not get resisted. Works well if you are with and archer or another mage. A popular 2 person combo is one person explode poison, the other explode flamestrike, doing enough damage for a kill and the poison interrupting any precast heals, and introduces a wait time for him to drink cure pots before a friend can cross heal. Keep the inscription and reflect and it will take longer for someone to break it before doing damage to you. I have never been a fan of bandage mages but that's just personal preference I guess, Once you run out of mana you have no real back-up offence. Side note another option becomes available if bolas are introduced, and you can pick up tactics instead, to dismount someone. Explosion -> bola -> poison would definitely throw someone into macro smashing while they try to remount / cure.
Personally, I like the heal mage and think it's best used in a group. The healing just doesn't work so well if you're alone and the only target for your enemies. Given the way you guys can fight with more organized group tactics I might use a less common mage template, though. I've always thought it would be fun to have a stealth mage but not if I did't have a group of stealth archers to play with. I'd think archery and tactics might come in handy and be a better use of the tactics skill should you need it for bolas in the future. If it were me though, I'd probably go the RP route and pick up alchemy and poisoning and play the witchdoctor type stirring up vile concoctions in my orc hut. None of those ideas are 100% about function, though. I've been playing a heal-stun for awhile now and I'm considering a big change. Even on horseback my stun just isn't that successful so, like Tater said, I doubt it'll be too great for your mojoka. I really only use the heal while I'm medding. I'm thinking I might be happiest with a nox-scribe. As someone who exclusively plays a pure mage I hope my experience with the template helps you. However, I really think 99% of what your mojoka brings to the table is gonna come from your core 5x skills so I wouldn't worry much about having the absolute best secondary skills. Also, should you start a petition to get bolas, you've got my vote.
None needed. They are in the works but being tested and adjusted to not be OP, as far as I've come to understand it.
Bolas are on the board along with a lot of other things. Xuth I like the poison/scribe idea personally.Wu and I will provide the poison for it if you decide to do it.
