Wouldn't you all love to see parrying used more often, as in.... ever? On the homepage, the item information for "shields" doesn't even link to any information... what does that tell you!? Parrying Bonus ideas • % magic resist increase • small % to either reflect or negate a spell. • GM parrying grants the perks of inscription only while wearing a shield. • stun resist • resist special attacks (crushing blow/paralyzing blow) • small shields, (ie buckler, wooden shield) grant greater armor against one handed weapons, while kite/heater shield sizes defend better against two handed weapons. The possibilities are endless!!! I know the debate over making Dexers stand up against Mages is tired and insufferable, but wouldn't it be nice to see some variety out there? AND FOR THE LOVE OF JEBUS, can I please get a viable use out of all these shields I'm looting? Thanks for reading! side note - what's that guy in the UO artwork doing? reflecting some fire breath? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
dunno how i feel about plain shields, but it could be an awesome addition to Order / Chaos shields for sure. There are a lot of faction battles going on, but its pretty hard to find o/c fights except a few participating individuals. This could help a bit to interrest more ppl into order/chaos, and also provide a small buff to all the dexxer lovers out there.
I would love to see shields (and/or plate armor) be the solution to the dexxer's PvM woes. Across the board (melee, magic, & breath) PvM damage reduction/avoidance would be huge. I'd avoid PvP changes right now, simply because any potential changes to PvP are going to be mired in controversy and will ultimately never go anywhere (see Archery threads).
You are so right Basoosh. Removing the passive mana regen penalty from shields is such a good idea!!!
I find this to be a super fascinating idea. I don't think I've ever heard this proposed before, but it really seems like it would fit well thematically with the bonuses one receives to Reactive Armor, Protection, and Magic Reflect. I would LMAO if there was a parrying fix put in on this shard and it only applied to less than 1% of the shields.
Agreed, but with a chance to parry being applied of course. No 100% avoidance at GM or anything but maybe 50% chance to disrupt special, if successful parry.
