Reserve not met unfortunately Going to save them for a rainy day sale. Thanks for your interest guys.
At 3.5 I was already over what I thought their value was....if you get more than 3.5 I would be pretty surprised. But then again, someone did pay 6 mil for pinks.....
No worries, good luck with it man. Also, I don't really understand a private reserve when you aren't going to accept anything less than the reserve (I am assuming in this case that it is 5mil). You'd save people and yourself time wondering if you just stated your starting "bid" as reserve. Having a starting bid that is millions less than what you would ever accept just seems like a pointless endeavor. Anyway, cool your playing again (I don't know you obviously) Have fun!
The reason I set a reserve is so I didn't blind side someone by removing the auction when the bids were lower than what I thought the item was worth. And anyone being honest will also tell you the reason I didn't set a minimum bid was because I honestly didn't know what to expect and didn't want to undercut myself by having to low of a starting bid or b/o. Ill post them again eventually with a hard B/O cost. But for now I'll wear em . Btw thanks for the welcome back. I've been on and off of the server since launch. Had a pretty decent break though so feeling anxious to play again.
A minimum bid set to your reserve solves this problem. A minimum bid set to your reserve solves this problem. The ONLY thing I've ever seen accomplished for a seller by having both a "starting bid" and a "reserve" is that they allow themselves to discriminate against buyers. For example, maybe I'd sell the sandals to a standup gentleman like Andersonius for 1M, but a griefer like Jupiter would have to pay me 10M. That way my SB would be 1M, reserve would be 10M.
While there is room for favoritism in having a min bid and reserve, I don't apply it that way personally. The minimum bid is what I think the item is worth at a minimum and I won't even consider moving it for less. The reserve, when I have one, is typically what I see as the high water mark for value wherein if we come within a reasonable range of that number, I will sell. Most folks haven't really spent that much time in auctions though so their understanding and application of reserves and minimums will vary wildly.
Right... and when it's between min bid and reserve, what determines when you consider selling (and do), and when you consider selling (and don't)?
Well I wasn't going to descrimanate with the buyer. Honestly there's not much to say about my reserve cost thought process Other than I asked a friend what be thought about me selling the sandals and what I should ask for theM. He told me if I did want to sell them to just say I had a reserve. 2-6 mil is to ez to get and Just wasn't enough to get me excited to sell something that I knew there was one color of. (Even though there might be others close to the color) if someone was playing at the time of the sandles drop and was just dying to have them I'd let them go. I can see people with a ton of gold and game wealth bidding because they were so low In bid value and like them if I could get them cheap I'd snipe them too. Blaise blew me up though early and talked them down
Id take that SneakyT! For the record Blaise' comments had nothing to do with my perceived value on this. My thoughts on value and the willingness of an individual to spend x amount are two different things. My 3.5 mil bid was not made with a perception that I am getting these for a steal because I don't think that is a steal. 8 mil for these you'd be nutso not to take!
My mood and/or how much I need gold or whatever at the time. There are plenty of people around here that one might assume I'd not be willing to make deals for based on arguments or trash talk or whatever. The majority know that my dealings in business are completely aside from any conflicts in game or otherwise. Granted, now if I had an auction and someone like Kane who specifically burned me on a forum sale offer out of spite, would get exactly what's coming his way. So to summarize, your trade history would play into my decision to sell under a reserve, not your personal history with me.
Actually Jack, you're a pretty solid example of someone I've had heated discourse with for years and still have calm and fair business dealings with regardless. Thanks for stepping in.
