Yeah, this will be cool. Though I do kind of like my weird carrot and lettuce bush and all the creative things other people have done to make houseplants.
I find gardening as great side fun. By the way, that's what made my wife a big fan of Ultima. I told her we can hunt together so she can grow some plants - now she is just as big fan of the game as I am. Orange petals were really an issue, but red leaf and green thorn were ok. The green thorn was so fun and interesting. Also you can change the results - you don't want special bunny - OK, replace with something better. Gardening itself consumed a lot of potions - so it created a good market for alchemists. Also instead of orange petals it can be made to produce something usefull but not unique - some regeants for example, so the gardener sees the fruits of his work. Another idea - rare plant that spawns few fruits that can be applied to fishing poll for better chance for *whatever - never been a fisher*. Same can be used for more special content - fruits that increase temporary for a 1 or 2 minutes (by small amount, like +5 or +8) non-PvP skills like Lockpicking, Cartography or Mining.
Heh I totally forgot about the green thorn, and I should remember considering how many damn vorpal bunnies I took down lol. Definately have to agree with it being good for the market with alchemists, even a half assed gardener aint gonna let a keg run half empty when he's using wooden benches to stack em 10/tile in the growhouse! That and the plants created dont clash with the plat reward plants as they're so obviously completely different......although the hues could do with a slight touch up before being added here as they were quite flat looking imo....
Would love to see a plant growing system implemented here. And vines. I need them pretty pixel vines for my home!
I will be the first to confirm Vines will be entering our world shortly as loot from swamp corpsers know as "Whipping Vines", not sure about the entire plant thing though! This has been your daily dose of insider info, tune in next week!
If there is ever a gardening patch, then I hope the plants aren't fully grown in a week or so. Please make it take some time. Preferably, the better looking the plant the longer it takes to grow.
This would be a great idea. I had never tried my hand at gardening, even when I owned a house on a shard. This is something that, now I have learned from this thread, I will definitely do once I get a house (and remembering to keep part of the plot free for a garden!).
T2a needs some love and gardening is amazing. 2 birds one stone, make w/e base mats you need for gardening available in t2a. These materials could be from numerous sources, whether existing or new t2a monster loot, from escort type quests/camps similar to the current valentines day spawning camps, through new to be found spawns just on the terrain itself similar to how rares currently spawn. There is that entire north eastern icy continent that is 100% un-utilized for instance.
I remember the gardening system on osi being pretty cool. I'm sure it had it's flaws but it was something different to do and more decor options. Would love to see it here!
Gardening for actual vegetables, please. Carpentry/Cooking skill required house addon(s) - planters box (various sizes) for patios and what not. Tinker/Cooking skill required item - planter's pots (of various sizes) Gardening to work on said boxes with accompanying gumps for interaction. Plant (for example) carrots and POTATOES and watch them grow. Harvest and cook em up in a stew. Say thee and thou as you serve them to your friends (imaginary or otherwise). Yay! Give cooking some semblance of purpose, preeze.
i like it because i have a pile of milk dud shaped fertile dirt that doesn't do anything also i like pretty flowers sue me
I love the idea of plants on UOR, it just doesn't effect the overall gameplay in anyway, but also adds to it, win win in my book.
I played a shard that introduced OSI gardening and I built a custom 3-4 story grow house dedicated to just gardening. I got vines from swamp vine to decorate the walls and 3 types of seeds and cross pollinated them to create every plant in every colour, it was insane! The green thorn spawned vorporal bunnies if planted in the dirt fields and red leaves made permenant the ink of books and the orange petal was modified heavily to balance properly but it was awesome and gave non combatants a way to exist meaningfully in the world. You needed gm alchemy for all the pots required to cure the plants ailments so alchemy suddenly became a non combatant skill of choice. House decorations were off da hook and the decorators would visit the grow house to pre purchase plants and place orders. House deco artists used to bethe ultimate money spinner before the house tool was available. All in all one of the very best additions to uo ever, can't wait until it's implemented here. For my 2 cents, just be rid of orange petals or change their use. Red petals are a dream come trueand v bunnies are just all benefit. People should come to realise that it takes a lot of cross pollination to get one plant that produces a maximum of 8 resources, even if orange petals existed there wouldn't be that many around anyways. Won't even get into mutant breeds and cooking ingredient plants and seeds of renewal and super rare black and white and oh mah gawd give us gardening already!!!!!
Was about to create a new thread for this topic. Glad I searched first. +1 for gardening plants/flowers. They serve as deco and offer no distinct advantage in terms of game play. I think they would make a fantastic addition to an already excellent shard. Please. I know for a fact from past experiences that there are people who enjoy the plant system and they log in every day to check on them.
