I hate slimes. I don't hate them for being a slime, but I hate that every time I want to go to the second level of despise to kill ettins with my naturalist I risk accidentally auto attacking one with my sword and losing weapon durability with each accidental hit. Weapons already lose durability quick enough when fighting so I would like to propose another use for oil cloths that involves applying it to a weapon to give it "oiled" status that would temporary give it immunity to the slimes corrosion.
Have you actually tested this? As far as I understand it, the "acid blood scars your weapon" message is the only thing that actually happens. It doesn't actually wear out any faster or take a durability hit from the acid blood. However, I believe the intention is to make that functional some day, along with oil cloth.
If memory serves, way back when, oil clothes were first introduced to UO, their use actually was for cleaning poison/acid from weapons when encountering yucky slimes and such. Not sure why that ability isn't active here. Perhaps staff thinks this the wrong time frame, or maybe the coding to make that work is glitched. good question and ideas. Yeah that's how I remember it too. I carried a few of them for that purpose because hunting in Despise, you come across a lot of slimes.
