Disclaimer: This is not a popularity contest, the hues MOST liked may not make it. There is no reward for suggesting a hue that gets used. Over the next 2 weeks, I will be in game and on discord livestreaming hue suggestions at the Prize Room - Serpents Hold Counselors Hall. 1st session was held 8/14/2023 with a lot of suggestions. Screenshots posted in #General on Discord. If you like a color and want to "promote" it, take a screenshot and post it here. The goal is by September 1, the two anniversary hues are set. Below are some sample hues from yesterday... (orange) & 1978 1242(pruple) 1173 1365 - 2956 2132 & 1242
First off, the Orange from your screenshot is not 2744 (that's last year's special "Velvet Merlot"), it's 2774. I really like the 1173 teal from your screenshot, if I remember correctly that one was one of the ones we talked about last year that people really liked. I also think the mint green 2956 from your screenshot is really cool, but I'd have to see it in game as it might be too close to 1151 and/or 1154. Here are some of the other hues from previous years' discussions that I really like: This one was pretty controversial last year, definitely a "love it or hate it" kinda thing. We'd have to see some other items in game of course, but I think the contrast is pretty awesome. Definitely unique too - no other hues in UOR are anywhere close to this craziness lol I know people are kinda "over" blues, but if we're gonna have another "regular" blue color I think this one is pretty awesome. Different enough compared to all the other blue hues we've gotten in the past and not too wild or neon or whatever. These two are both pretty cool, I know a lot of people in past years have talked about 1173 as a fairly unique blue/teal hue that isn't too over the top. And as far as 1169 we haven't had a yellow Anni hue in a while and I think it fits well within accepted UOR palettes. A few pretty cool "middle of the road" type hues. The 2952 is especially cool since the contrast makes it look yellow sometimes and green sometimes. The 2951 mint & 2953 pearl are close to others that were suggested previously. Here are some "pearl" like hues, I think 2962 is the one people were talking about this year but were saying some of the items looked too weird? At least one of these 3 has got to be able to work for all items. Nothing too special IMO but I think there's broad appeal. Whole bunch of different items in the much-talked-about 2962 "pearl" colorway. Last but not least, this one was initially suggested leading up to 8th Anniversary. The problem most people seem to have had with it back then was that it was "too over the top"...but considering recent additions (Velvet Merlot, mostly), I don't think it'd be too out of place. I had commented back in 2019 or something that it looked like a darker cousin of 2nd Vesper. Some people agreed with me and some people said I was insane lol but regardless I do think it's a pretty sweet hue.
That 2956 mint is the one Fenrir posted in his screenshot. I really like that one but like I said my only worry was that it might be too close to one of the other "mint" hues like 1151? That 1242 is a cool enough color on clothes, and the lantern looks great, but the sandals & mask (arguably the most important part of choosing a hue) are wack since they are just dark and don't stand out at all We've had too many Anni years recently with terrible sandals (9th blue & orange and 10th green & magenta all suck, and even 8th red & purp weren't anything special) so we deserve a good sandal hue this year!
I just want to say thank you to all the staff for the hard work put into this. Whatever hues are chosen I'll be super excited to see them! Personally, I like these: 2956 & 1287 or what I've unofficially dubbed "Halloween on crack" or "Crackoween" (orange) & 1978
Perhaps an unpopular opinion, but I want to caution against colors that are too "exotic". It was a turn off see many players with way off vibrant colors that did not make sense for UO. Specifically, I'm talking about the "in your face" colors like ice. Ice looks good on a weapon, but not clothing. Many of the colors above look great, especially on dragons. Just my two cents. Thank you opening up for input.
Agreed with @Wahliby most of these colors are too neon for UOR. 1242 isnt that bad but its too close to a previous recent Easter event, those light pastel colors should be exclusive of easter imo. 1173 from @StarTrakZack isnt so bad either
1264 (borderline neon) and 1173 look really good on a lot of clothes and jewelry too startrakzak! to throw a purple into the mix, 1273 looks good on clothes as well. Darker version of 3rd purple 1374 (side comparison). A lot of great options and the side effect of more options for event hues too! Cheers!
UGHHHH SEXY yeah I am totally down for those hues... Very cool, special, unique, but not TOO nutso when it comes to the "Neon-ness" (Neoninity? Neonitude?) that other people are complaining about. Love it, good job, thank you!
TONS of juicy info in this old thread as well, for reference: https://uorforum.com/threads/an-analysis-of-3000-hues.44077/page-3 I think you all deserve doodoo brown though.
You are right about what we deserve, we are all degenerate morons....but what we want is for you to give me some 6th blue sandals and retire, old man!!!
