Compassion What is Compassion? Compassion is one of the eight virtues in the Ultima universe and provides a significant bonus to any players that follow it. Within the realm of Ultima Online players that follow the path of Compassion will be able to resurrect their allies/pets with much more starting health than without it. It is worth noting that this virtue requires the player to be able to resurrect through regular means of either magery or healing. Levels and Bonuses There are three levels of the compassion virtue which provide better bonuses as the player achieves them. 1 - Seeker of Compassion (15+ escorts) - At this level the player will resurrect the target target player with 20% of their maximum hits. For pets this is 5%, this bonus caps at 200hp. 2 - Follower of Compassion (30+ escorts)- At this level the player will resurrect the target target player with 40% of their maximum hits. For pets this is 10%, this bonus caps at 200hp. 3 - Knight of Compassion (45+ escorts) - At this level the player will resurrect the target target player with 80% of their maximum hits. For pets this is 20%, this bonus caps at 200hp. How to Gain Compassion The method of gaining levels in the path of Compassion is very simple, all it requires is for the player to do escort missions, once the player has done a specific number of escort missions they will advance to the next level. Finding escort missions is very simple, there are multiple NPCs in any given town that will respond to the command "I will take thee", after you take them to their destination they will provide you with a little gold (100-400), some fame and points towards the Compassion virtue. By far the easiest way of escorting NPCs is to open a gate to a rune library and gate from there, additionally the moongates work well for players that are unable to use the gate travel spell. Thus far I have discovered five types of NPC's that are escortable, you are able to identify them by their attire and their title on their paperdoll: Seekers of Adventure Nobles Brides Grooms Merchants Tracking Your Progress To view your progress you must open the circle of virtues, this can be done by double-clicking the pentagram above your characters head in the paperdoll By pressing the status button you will be able to track any of your virtues, in this instance we are looking at Compassion. The next gump will allow the player to track their progress, the little orbs at the top of the gump indicate the progress the player is making, as all the red orbs become blue the player will gain a level in compassion. The escorts themselves are rather simple, the player merely needs to run up to one of the previously mentioned NPCs and take them to their destination Upon arriving the player will gain some Compassion Once the player receives enough points towards the virtue and gains a level, the symbol on the circle of virtues will light up: Notes: * A player may only gain up to 3/10 orbs of compassion a day, any further escorts will have no effect. * A player may follow multiple virtues, so obtaining a few levels in the virtue of Compassion can prove to be very useful in group PvP encounters, or even during large PvM events where resurrecting a player with more life may give them the opportunity to regain their body and resume the fray. * There is a 5 minute delay between completing an escort and starting a new one. * Like all virtues, Compassion decays over time so in order to maintain your level the player will need to do an escort mission every now and then. * They take 1 follower slot so be sure to finish a job that you start! * Stratics notes that you can gain compassion by rescuing prisoners in the wild, however I have not yet found any of these in UOR, once more information becomes available I will update this post. * Lastly, I would like to mention that this is a work in progress and that I will continue updating this post as more information becomes available.

I only gained 2 today - perhaps this has changed: I did alot of escorting in early on for gold (as Marjo did=).... lost all of my Virtue since and am just exploring system again after I saw this last eve: When I click on Status then the Valor Virtue - it says it's not defined although Im almost done with the next bar/orb row (one left). My guess this is for killing things obviously but I have no idea what "bonus" one gets (I have yet to research). Im going to next delve into the other defined on in these guides however how did you get Justice!? Again something else I'll research but any comments, etc would be appreciated. Thanks.
There have been no changes to the maximum amount of Compassion (gained by escorting NPC's) you can gain in a 24 hour period. The Valor virtue was disabled some time back because the abilities it has to offer cannot be utilized without having the Champion System functional (will be activated with patch 35), which is why it says it has not yet been defined. However any players that participated in the 2012 Christmas event may still have points in Valor since the event was developed using a customized champion spawn (you gain Valor by slaying creatures linked to a champion region) Lastly, the Justice virtue was also disabled in the same patch as Valor. Any characters that had slain enough murderers prior to this patch may still have points in Justice.
Thanks for the info. Im exploring different facets of the game and this helps. However in Dolan's guide, he mentioned I could gain 3 bubbles per day however it appears I was only able to achieve 2. Perhaps the guide needs to be updated? I plan to do more escorts today and will see what happens. As Xmas event goes, my guess is I gained by killing reindeer. I never killed the boss (Bad Santa). So creatures linked to champion for Valor makes sense =). Thanks for the feedback Ez. I did notice though when you click "learn more" button, the webpage opens with no info. Compassion is lost on a 7 days interval, & for each atrophy 500 points in this virtue are lost. The virtue atrophy is unavoidable. The cool-down timer for when gains refresh in Compassion is set to 24 hours after the /last/ time you successfully aided an escort. What may of happened is that you didn't escort the maximum of 5 NPC's for the day prior, and because the cool-down had not yet expired, the Compassion gains you received were still tallying for that day . If this were to happen, you would be capped in gains until 24 hours passed from that time.
I actually just started escorting again last eve/early AM today after many, many months so Compassion had to be zero. I was expecting to get 3 bubbles instead of 2 given the guide Deacon put together. I'll test again on live once it resets to see how many bubbles I get. Again thanks for feedback.
So I did more escorts this eve: 1 escort gave me 3rd bubble 2 more gave me 4th 2 more gave me 5th escorted another and received wait a day/can not gain message Also, I must have read the guide incorrectly. I thought I would be able to do 15 per day. At this rate of bubble gain, the 15+ escorts to attain Seeker of Compassion is correct. My bad.
