A lantern that stays lit without holding it, takes up a body sash or kilt slot. For the Light Rpers that use dark nights and no light filter. A parry warrior can then go into dungeons, also a mage can wear it without having to reequip it after every cast.

Or a torch that is spell channeling. I know there's the IN LOR and nightsight potions. But a pure parry warrior knows no magic. The night sight potions do negate this and I don't have a good argument against them.

The wearable lantern / SC torch would be nice to see on the plat list. There is no draw back, no exploiting but adds a certain rp / real funtion to the few of us who play with dark nights. For those who dont, with no inlor and no nightsight pots are really missing a element of the dungeon experience.

    Like it!

It could perhaps be an attribute of clothing (such as Blessed, Exceptional, etc.). Call it luminescent, glowing, or something like that?

I don't see at all why this would have to cost platinum. Just hand them out to any RPer who wants them. Or better yet, give a bunch to the Village of Paws and let Jupiter do the job of handing out! It would be unrighteous to demand platinum for these simply make-life-a-little-more-convenient-for-us-RPers-things.

    Yes, you heard me, unrighteous!

I suggested this in another thread as a newbied ring/jewelry item so it does't conflict with any other slots.

As a roleplayer, does it really make sense that your character can hold a lantern and a shield and a sword at the same time? Maybe you could try putting a torch or lantern on the ground while you're fighting instead?

But I don't mean to tell you how to RP, and don't have anything against your suggestion

Spell channeling lanterns are a great idea! Same with torches and candles.

If I was to be going full RP with th dark nights to boot, I'd take a dozen torches with me...makes more sense throwing a lit stick to th ground than smashing a lantern.

I like Blaise's idea of a piece of jewelery but I'd prefer to see that giving th glow of a candle, at most an extra tile or two lit forward of the character.

However I think if it's to be a 'wearable' lantern, the belt/sash slot works, and perhaps make it a jar of fireflies, could even negate the plat vendor, and make it a quest to collect them and turn them in to th quest giver for your lantern.
Either that or make it a piece of jewelery with th firefly, collect th set and you get th lantern's glow vs the individual pieces being candle glows....

What about "Ring of Limited Nightsight" as a potential addition to treasure chests allowing for magical rings etc for lockpickers?

When equipped gives aura of light (akin to a lantern), and lasts for 30 mins/charge?

Oh, so that's why those modern MMO's are so popular...

Indeed, hands-free lanterns have kept the old-school MMO community down for too long. Time to modernize UOR!

well, to be honest, like all the suggestions here, but, it would have to be a wearable lantern or a SC torch. A ring of nightsight is the same exact thing as a NS pot. No warm glow. If you turn off your light filter and use dark nights and colored lights, wait till its black dark and light a torch......that warm space cadet glow. This is the reason I dont use NS pots....no glow.

So, in closing, to satisfy me, it would have to be lantern (with radius lighting on your char) or a spell channeling torch (with that warm glow around your char). Also....haters gonna hate this......In Lor should be 7-8th circle spell. There, I said it.

Using Ultima IX to proving anything Ultima related is heresy.

As far as I'm concerned it's not cannon!
