It's that time again, the reason we're all here. To get pixels and hues that other people can't! With 7th anniversary coming up and some mixed feedback on the current selected hues, I was curious about the hue situation. As of the date of this post, this is what the 1st (bottom) through 10th (top) anniversary hues look like.

Any hue, from 2 to 1001 can be created via the dye tub (hue 1 is pure black). This leaves hues 1001 to 3000.

From those 1999 hues available in the UO:R client files, if you exclude the following

    • Any hue that is pure black in this range, which comes to 727 removed off the bat.
    • Any hue that is being used based on the UO:R item database.
At this point, you have 292 unused hues. Now, unfortunately not all those hues are usable, at least without us getting into some crazy looking outfits.
    • Hues 1059-1101, 1178-1189, 1197-1200, 1290-1300, 1379-1400, 1455-1500, 1555-1600, 1655-1700, are trippy and deceiving. They look good on the UO:R site, but when applied, it's a different story.
    Example, hue 1060

    http://www.uorenaissance.com/itemdetails/Hue/1060/1

Based on the site, it might be a really cool dark blue, but when you actually apply the hue, it looks like this.

After removing those, we have a remaining 234 unique, unused hues that could be used for anniversary colors. What are the choices?
    • Hues 1001-1058 are skin hues (out of the 56 total skin hues all are unused and available)

    • Hues 1102-1149 are hair hues (out of the 47 total hair hues, 24 are unused and available)

    • These hues are some form of white or gray (total of 49)

The above hue sets add up to 129. Finally, we're at the end. What hues are left? From my testing, most of them match the hue in game as you see here, but there are some exceptions.

If I did everything right, short of adding custom hues that would require an client patch, the hues above are the remaining unique, unused hues available on UO:R.

So, which ones are your favorite?

Wow, thats some solid color research! Great work.

These colors can be eliminated as well (not UOR clothing material)
    1152 is neon ice
    1281 - 1289 are neon

The section from 2947 - 2970 is semi-neon. I think it could live in UOR without causing a fuss.

    These ones I like most:
    hue 1365 Azura Blue
    hue 1368 green
Green hue 2129 is also not yet used for cloth, would be nice for an anni color.

I really like the way the 1152 looks as a robe in that picture, but way less as an Ice Fiend

also, whatever hue you turn when you have the flag in CTF is pretty dope

2962 is interesting, would like to see what this looks like in game on items that could be rewarded from the anniversary event.

I'm not a fan of any hue that looks remotely close to any hues that were previously released. For example the Lep sandals that are just about identical to green 1st year sandals.

Anni cloth should be the "end game" of hues. This is where you should see the crazy hues. I'm not advocating glacial and blaze here though.

I agree, it’s the most “in keeping” that isn’t like any other hue we’ve done before either.

I’d also take the 2962 as a Christmas hue.

Oh Snap, i didnt realize that most of my selections were well outside of the era. Dang, i really liked that 1152 blue in the thumbnail too...

    I guess with that in mind i would have to vote for. 1365, 1368, 1189, 2962, 2052, 2129, 1375

Firstly, good and much needed post. I think it's great to put this to a vote, rather than cram the pre-picked colors down players throats.

    My votes

    Top
    :
1258 - We have minimal orange on the server currently and there is a high demand for previous 'blaze' that people can't get. This would also match with the hue 1161 'flaming spellbook', but don't give away books for anniversary. Make people earn it through Krampus runs.
2966 - Just overall cool looking
    7th anniv hue 1258.JPG
    7th anniv hue 2966.JPG

    Secondary
1266 (Fallon, love this color, but we really have enough blue at the moment, so it's not in top tier for UOR)
1153 (Pure White, I've always wanted this color as well, but it would make the pre-existing 2955, 1150 hues people just got from the Christmas raffle drop significantly)

I’d like to change my votes to Pill’s votes (orange/teal).
