Hey hey team. I know, I know, it seem like I have questions often, but hey, this is a complicated game and this community is great in terms of response. So bam. Rather than making 3 threads, I will just ask input on my three ideas in this one majestic post. 1. Archery. Whats the dealio-yo? Is archery even a viable thing to get into? And if so, what are come archery builds that are floating around? Fletching to make yer own arrows? I have a collection of Orc Bows, and apparently they do +25% dmg and have +70% durability. Thoughts? 2. In terms of making a crafter, is it at all viable to make a crafter with all the major crafting skills so have an all-in-one character, and just let other characters do the resource collecting? If not, what seems to be the most needed/sought after craftables on this shard? 3. Vendor idea: Survival Packs. Tell me what you guys think of this idea, in terms of wether anyone would actually buy these: - Have a vendor outside any given dungeon that sells survival/adventure packs for the dungeon. These packs would contain X amount of each reg, X amount of bandages, safe rune and recall scrolls, X amount of the most useful pots, food, scissors and dagger, ID wand. Then there would be mage/dexxer/archer specific bags as well with more regs, more aids, arrows/bolts. Possible option to add sets of armor, melee weps/shields. The idea behind this is that there is the option to show up with practically nothing, buy a bag, and run into the dungeon. Convenient and well rounded for the quick solo/team adventure. Thoughts on this? Thanks! ~Krake
1. I haven't had an archer here so my opinion doesn't hold much weight. Archers are handy for harrowers yet casting on tenacles is just as effective. Usually use Orcish bows which use two arrows for every shot, will hit targets 12 tiles away and, I believe the damage isn't that great at times partially due to the wide/odd damage rolls on this server (but that goes for all weapons). Over all pvm is okay with archer if you like ranged attacks. I'm not sure about drops for slayer type bows. Hunting I see mostly swords, fencing and macing weapons drop. 2. In the past I've always had 2-3 characters with crafting skills spread amongst them. For carpentry you will need some skill points free for music, tailoring etc so you can craft those associated items if that's how it works here. Write out your crafting skills your going to train/want and organize them into characters. 3. I like the vendor survival packs... great idea. I wouldn't have them contain too much. Maybe break it down so your customers aren't stuck buying stuff they don't usually use. Reg bag, pot bag (giggity), dif ar bags, weapons, scrolls, runes at cost of buying and marking, etc
Orc bows hit as hard as plain store-bought bows I believe. They require 2 arrows per shot and have increased distance. If you are careful, you can shoot Harrower's tentacles from regular or magical bow range without getting sucked in. And that's generally preferable since it's easy to pick up a bow of power. It makes sense to combine Mining and Blacksmithing, since Mining allows you to smelt colored ingots and will eventually impact ingot return upon smelting. For most other crafting, you can assembly-line it, or all-in-one it.
People will try to convince you otherwise, but in my PvM experience, no. Archery is not viable. I say that as someone who stocks and sells bulk arrows, even. It's just not good on UOR for PvM. The damage rate is too low, especially when you're throwing 7.5g at monsters every couple of seconds. I found it severely lacking even in its "niche" applications, like fishing. I don't have any experience with it in PvP here, but if anyone is rocking it, it's only a small handful of people. I have an all-in-one crafter and then gatherer characters. No regrets to date, though if that ingot return with mining comes into play, I'll be a sad panda. Not sure how well it does, but someone has run a vendor like this at the Destard entrance for awhile. Might want to track them down and ask.
Hi, I own the dastard entrance houses, first 2 on the right. I also run WYNB... Survival/recovery packs sell well. I just don't have time for running vendors all the time. If you want to set up a vendor at my small marble there, you are more than welcome to do so!
