I know i know…Been beat to death anyway… Im at GM Peace GM Provo GM Music GM Mage GM Resist GM Med GM Eval Thinking of dropping peace for wrestling…Should help me get spells off better and not get hit so much? Peace it useful too though… Thoughts?
Peacemaking is great for warriors, but I've always found it to be lackluster on a mage template, picking up wrestling would mean a significant amount of survivability. Personally I can't play any mage template without wrestling, there's something infuriating about getting your gheal/recall interrupted by a headless 4-5 times in a row.
So if I'm understanding this correctly... this means wrestling acts like parrying for a mage and successful "parries" can be done while casting, thus the attack won't interrupt a spell. Right?
I'll ask the same as I ask everyone seeking template advice... what do you want it to do? What do you envision it spending most of it's time doing?
A bard that can't hide is a sitting duck. If it were me, I'd drop peace and eval, and pick up hiding and wrestling.
Didn't think you could hide in combat. Eval helps when finishing off the remaining creature. I guess I'm expecting not to get poisoned From scorpions etc or take so much melee damage.
My two cents drop eval and peace for hiding and item id. Very functional. If your ping is decent you can teleport & hide easily. If you get swarmed your probably getting in closer than you need to unless we're talking passageways. I've always wanted to make a poison bard but I know people will laugh at me for it. I haven't really studied what level poison you'd cast on monsters but thought it was greater at GM, maybe it depends how close you are to them. Farming with a bard I just want whatever is provo'd down as fast as possible. I have a provo disco bard that's okay in group pvm. If your a fighter on the rare occasion a solo pk shows up then wrestle makes the most sense with MB proof stats.
Drop peace and get disco for the Provo bonus. Fuck hiding use invisible spell. I have same build but wrestling instead of disco but it's because in lazy. But def either wrestling or disco
Disco and provo are on the same 10 second timer... f that. I like to farm high traffic spots, so hiding reigns supreme.
I think disco over definitely peace, and also over hiding. have one leftover monster at 1/4 health? when the new one spawns I like to disco the fresh one so it wins but gets worked way down in the process. I think it speeds things up as opposed to having a fresh spawn finish off the old monster and then you've gotta sit and watch two high health monsters work each other down which can take forever
You dont actually use disco. GM Disco gives a bonus to provo success chance so it helps with tougher mobs.
My bard is: GM Music GM Provo GM Disco GM Peace GM Eval GM Mage GM Med I farm heavy traffic areas of medium difficulty spawn and low traffic areas of high difficulty spawn. I sometimes have to circle a lot but between magic reflect and inv spell, not sure why a bard would trade out any of the barding skills for a skill that can be replaced by a spell - for PvM purposes. If you're main goal is PVM, all you have to do is run around (a lot) in lieu of spending 100 skill pts for wrestle, cast reflect in place of resist, and invis in place of hiding. To decrease the amount of running around you will do, use slayer instruments. Disco is very useful for coordinating multiple provo targets to aim all at one and disco it, then repeat until all dead.. the provos kill the target much much faster when target is discod.
I had a pure bard and stacking bonus of peace and disco for the provo skill didn't seem to work as well as expected. Using slayer instruments works the same. Provo checks your first target not your second the last I knew of skill mechanics. Hiding or casting invis whatever suits ya.
It depends on what youre planning to do on your bard. some examples: - a template with Music / Provo + 5x Mage (Mage, Med, Eval, Resist, Wrestle) can be used pretty well for overall play (farming + pvp) (i use a template similar than this, and its a BLAST! Suitable for farming, 5x duels, groupfights, champs... pretty much whatever comes in mind) - a pure pvm barding template would want Discord for the additional barding chance, it also works great in groups (if i would have to stick on a "full bard pvm build" id do propably something like this with Wrestling: http://www.uorenaissance.com/player/45252) - hiding is a great survival tool if youre not used to pvp. It will be a real lifesaver! - You dont need eval on bards, but you should have wrestling on them
I wouldn't drop peace. My mage/Bard build is Pretty much the same as you got, but I use summons to fight stuff I either provo or peace effectively keeping the aggro off myself while I sit back and continue to peace or provo other monsters onto the one being attacked
