LJ is nice, but not really necessary in my opinion. I'm more of a two handed macing fan myself, and crushing blows are plenty deadly enough for battle mining. I use: Mace fighting Tactics Anatomy Magery Music Peacemaking Mining I use magery for healing, and with peacemaking you won't be getting hit very often. I don't recall my exact stats, but it's something like 100/65/60. I'm sure they could be tweaked to be more efficient or whatever, but it has worked fine for me.
Only reason I was going to use LJ is I'm at 95 already. This would be a character "conversion". I never play her but didn't want to waste the hours I have building LJ. So many options.. The Macing is awesome too because they hit slower and slower as you take stamina. Hmm Maybe make this girl a pure LJ Warrior and start a new Mining character.
LJ is nice but you also need to find slayer axes which go for top dollar. Since the elements is only melee, do you guys think parry is useful?
Wouldn't you be better off with something more UOR-like? Taming Lore Vet Mage Med Mining Wrestling / Hiding 2 Dragons + 1 Nightmare OR Taming Lore Combat skill Tactics Mage Vet Mining Nightmare to tank while you heal it and beat on the golems. This way you can mount your pet and recall if you don't have to gate ore. Mind you, I know nothing about mining because I let my victims do that part of the ingot creation process for me.
Party would be a huge help but I think peacing it would best but you give up 200 skill points. Does LJ give damage bonus to pole arms? Halberd to be more specific. So you could go with LJ Music Peace Anatomy Swords Tactics Mining Leaves the magery issue of getting around. I know I could run a bot and gate but I like having magery. We know we need Mining Weapon skill Tactics Could drop LJ and peace and music for fencing. Buy a sweet spear and use the paralyzing blow for less damage received. Pick up healing which would give dual use to the anatomy and use magery too and why not inscription? So... Mining Fencing Tactics Anatomy Healing Magery Inscription(why not? RA would stop about 66 points of damage when combined with GM magery.)
Lol thanks pfr for chiming in. Hadn't even considered that template. Not much of a tamer myself but damn you got me thinking. I have a tamer that never gets played either. I always play my bard Mage.
Halberds and bardiches do not get the LJ bonus. Tames, from what I understand, are more trouble than they're worth when battle mining. However, tames do give the benefit of not carrying around a weapon that's worth 1/7 of a placed fort.
There are a ton of different routes you can go. Personally I like to max things and this is my personal setup which is unbeatable in terms of battle miner output= LJ battle miner + lj dexxer + lj dexxer. Your main toon can operate as a solo battle miner or work in unison with your other 2 accounts to beat the heck out of golems. With 3 ljs, golems running becomes less of an issue because they die before they get out of melee range. Heals come through every 3 seconds or so when using 3 accounts so you will never really have to worry about that. All toons should have magery and gate macros so if you see a red you gate out on all 3 and gtfo. This is useful because they can't interrupt all 3 of you and your axes will be safe.
Geez man, I take down golems fast solo but I'd love to see a video of your three LJs at work. They're probably almost dead before they fully finish spawning.
