Boats Decay without refresh

Suggestion: Boats will decay over a set period of time and can not be refreshed.
Reason: This would boost the economy for oak and boat builders. This would also open up several shorelines that are cluttered with un-used boats.

I know many vets and current boat owners will be opposed to this idea. The bigger picture is that this could help stimulate one portion of the economy on UO:R that is currently and literally dead in the water.

Both positive and negative feedback is welcome but keep it civil.

No. As far as I understand this suggestion, you dont own the “unused“ shorelines and want to change that by out-of-the-game ways.

Properly placed boats are an asset and shouldnt be deleted or replaced regularly. Now, there is one limitation afaik, travel and fishing must still be possible. The placement needs to have a reason and not just be for griefing players.

Most people forget to refresh their boats anyway, I've lost many just forgetting haha

The shorelines portion of my suggestion was NOT the main focus point. The main focus point was an idea to stimulate the oak and boat economy.
Why I mentioned shorelines is because people got boats plopped down all over the place and never move them.

ps. I have no stakes in the boat world. It was just an idea I had to boost the Carpentry economy.

edit: Tomorrow I'll suggest Ladder's decay so you can tell me I don't own air space and I'm trying to change the ladder scene on uo:r with out of game ways.

Every now and then a boat auction comes up that blocks a small portion of the map.. Its supposed to be valuable but, I don't get it

Haha, yeah I am defending my 100mil worth secure 100% CYs. You guys cant even imagine the size of the boat partys I am regularly having there. Naked baywatch chicks and caipirinhas everywhere. And only the coolest people are invited, like Uncle Donnie and Sea C Avenger.

Now, about the boat market: I seriously believe it's one of the best going markets. Very often when I am looking for boats, they are sold out. I am sure that boat sellers can confirm that they are selling constantly. I am regularly seeing WTB reauests for boards and logs.

What we need is some ships with cannons to blow other ships up. Open up a whole pirate playstyle.

I too have lost way too many boats by forgetting to refresh.

My 2c, we have a server where you CAN make boats...

My understanding was that oak was only made to give Lumberjacking an extra benefit w/o adding all the colored woods added after Renaissance.
Lets just add the other colors so we can make colored furniture and bows and call it a day.

Eh this isn't trade, discussions on possible shard changes don't really have an expiration date. These are still some of the most recent threads here. You can unwatch the threads if you don't want alerts.

Colored woods may be better suited to their own thread, though.

I was only referring to this portion of the OP. I think I get the point though.
