Brain Teaser or Ramblings of an Idiot?

    I've been finishing up several of my characters skills lately, and as they got closer to 100 I noticed some had a wider spread between shown and real skill. Maybe it's just in my head, but it seemed like the closer the difference, the gains were quicker with less resources used.

    So then I thought, why does one character have such a higher shown vs real then the other one with the same skills? Was it a dice roll, or other skills influencing, stats maybe? So then I thought what did I do different on these two, and the only thing I could think of was starting stats.
    One character was created with 60 Str and the other was one I made later with 20 Str 10 Dex 50 Int because it was quicker and easier to run my str and dex up after getting 700 skills.

    Anyways, I needed some Newbie Boots (Tracking), so I decided to test the start up Stats.
    Started with 50 Smith 49 Magery on both, one with high Str, one with high Int to see what each did, Smith being a Str skill and Mage a Int skill.

    The first thing I noticed was the one with higher Str had more total skill points in shown only.

    There's no difference in real, so back to the shown skill and the questions running through my Over caffeinated brain.

    Back on the Point, has anyone of you who have trained hundreds of characters over the years noticed an advantage, mainly with craft skills that are brutal such as Blacksmith or Poisoning. These two especially could cost thousands over a few points at the top end, or when transitioning from one item to the next going up the scale trying to get the minimum for the next item.

    Does it make more sense to adjust stats for a lower margin for shown/real for gains, or would it be better to have the higher shown skill to reach that next item to make? Does this make any sense at all, fry your noodle?
    Or could this all be worthless jibber-jabber and spittle flying out of an old mans mouth?

    Thoughts.....sarcastic remarks...funny pictures....solid answers.... bring it! o_O

    I've always started my tamers with 10 STR... I think it absolutely makes sense.

    yes.

    read mutumbos taming guide for an example of how it works. basically you will adjust stats at strategic Times to help get over difficult humps.

    If you start a difficult skill such as taming, having a lower shown (not real) value would benefit you in the long run, because you could simply raise the Stat that influences that skill, and reach a new threshold for the skill (raising your respective stat so you can begin taming bulls from your shown, instead of being confined to white wolf taming.)

    I'm not sure peoples previous experiences would be lot of help here. Since, here, some skills effect other skills. But as said not sure.

    I can't help with the blacksmith question, as I raised that skill, many while playing. Only after her skill was in high 90's, did I "grind the skill", but did not macro it. Thus, I really didn't pay attention to the "skills 'n stats " you questioned.
