So, it would seem that popular opinion is such that 5x5 is not working correctly or is just unreliable. Considering the functionality of the system was implemented to prevent AFK resource gathering/skill gains, can this be removed now with the advent of the anti-AFK prompt system? It is enough work as it is wandering around tree to tree without having to watch gains and make sure you're 5 tiles away from the last area you gained in. Same goes for mining, but I suppose that's different because you can train by smelting with mining. In the very least, can we remove the 5x5 restrictions from Lumberjacking, please. It won't kill me to leave it as is, it just seems the system is now redundant and outmoded.
The only reason the 5x5 system was left in (for mining/lumberjacking) was to deter players from "training" a skill such as mining and lumber jacking in the same spot. Since inevitably they would be flagged by the Anti AFK gathering system. However if everyone agrees this is more of a hindrance than a deterrence I have no issues turning it off, however the staff will not be sympathetic to claims of "I was just training skill" if players are flagged, regardless of if the tree/mountain is providing logs/ore. So yes this can be turned off, however players have to keep in mind, just because the item they are gathering from is out of resources, does not mean you will be excluded from the AFK Gathering Check.
Yeah, that's totally understood here. If I'm jailed for AFK, I'm afk, whether my source was tapped out or not. I would expect the same for things like sheering sheep, mining the same spot, fishing, etc etc. Many thanks if we get this changed. It'll really help if I ever go into statloss on my LJ.
This will be changed in Patch 23 that will be applied sometime between 10/26-10/28. We didn't have enough time to squeeze this into patch 22, however we wanted to make a few tweaks to the anti afk gathering system to account for the new change.
Hahaha, SHIT, no wonder! I was like "Man, it's still gaining terribly slow" as I LJ around my house... Thanks
