There are a lot of threads in there discussing PVM and PVP templates, but you will find that most of the templates you used in 1998 are still used today. Mages are still great for both PVE and PVP. Mage Bard (Provocation) for hunting, and Stun Mage for PVP are general builds that will work. Taming is also good here.
