CCCCX XXXXXC XXYXXC XXXXXC XXXXXC If "C" is chests, and "X" is empty spaces, you can stand on spot Y and reach every chest. I use this setup, 4 chests tall, to get 4x4x2 = 32 chests in my reach on one spot. Easy for sorting loot I bring back from monsters.
I use a very similar technique to Dalavar, like so in my keep: Everything but the furthest east 2 rows in the back row, and the 2 independent rows near the stairs, are accessible from the middle where my char is standing.
Dzam! That's some sweet organization! Silly question...the stacking is done with the deco tool, right?
I just drop the chests at the feet of the ones I want to put it on top of. It can be annoying, but it works. Not sure how you'd use the deco tool. Maybe lock one down, raise it with the deco tool, then put others under it? In many cases, you can raise things higher via the drop-and-stack method than by using the deco tool.
I don't have a house currently on UOR but back in my OSI days I had a tower and would stack my chests as Dalavar above mentioned. I would then put a wooden bench on top for decoration like a shelf. I would stack raw goods as well via the bench method for my ingots and stuff....looked like a custom shelf and I liked it.
I apparently don't have nearly enough stuff to sort. I've got 10 or so boxes for equipment worth keeping, 3 or 4 boxes of deco items, and that's it. Trammel, I doin' it wrong.
Well, after 90ish days in after a fourteen year break... I'm trying to pick up what you guys are puttin' down!
Ok Telamon I use the method Dalavar describes for crafting areas. For item storage, in a shared space, we use chest stacks in columns of weapon types, only four needed really Slayer/Silver/Power/Vanq for each weapon type, marked by a shadow runic variant of that type where possible. We also have all of the instrument types in raised backpacks with books beneath them for labels.
Instruments seems to be the area I am have trouble.... I used a stack of wooden boxes but it takes me about 30 mins to find the right box sometimes.
So, I expanded on the Telamon method and cleaned up my keep over the weekend... its not as easy to access from a central location, but its visually better and more quickly accessible, I think: From This: To This:
