First let me say thanks to Chris for organizing the CTF today, it was good fun for everyone that participated and I'm sure we're all looking forward to more. I would just like add my two cents on the CTF and get an opinion from everyone else: Field spells - e.g. Paralyze field, Poison field, Stone field etc Pros: * Great for defending, allows the defending team to stop players chugging pots/getting healed and just rushing to grab the flag. * Allows for strategic chokepoints to prevent kiting/runners. Cons: * Possible grief from own team. * Large disadvantage to dexxers who cannot cast/dispel them. AoE spells - e.g. Earthquake, Meteor Swarm etc Pros: * Great for breaking down large defenses and dealing huge damage Cons: * Doesn't hit same team so is a little unfair when compared to field PvP. Teleporting Pros: * Allows players to get past teams that are turtling and try cap the flag Cons: * Makes mages getting healed very difficult to bring down when getting healed Free Use Potions/Regs Pros: *Mages wont run out of regs and dexxers won't run out of bandaids ensuring that they are useful throughout the game Cons: *Supports the "run n chug" type of play where players slam cure/heal/refresh pots while running. Points System Ingame points awarded on kills and caps Pros * Awarding points for kills and caps will encourage less turtling in the base, with an emphasis on team play rather than just healing/killing the carrier * Defenders will be able to contribute points to the team even if they cannot stop all the flag takers Cons * Opposing sides will pick on the other teams weakest players and feed points off them Magic Weapon/Armor Events Players allowed to bring any magic armor/weaponry which can not be dropped during the event Pros: * Allows for players to gain an advantage if they are willing to take the durability hit * Some weapons/playstyles are much less effective without the right armaments Cons: * Newer players that are less equipped will have a huge disadvantage to well situated players * No risk of item loss That's all I can think of for now, but I'd be eager to hear an opinion from everyone as to what would be best.
I think teleporting with the flag should be disabled. Death timer could be extended. I do not like hiding with the flag, but when tracking is fixed it could work great to find hiding flag carriers. Flag carriers need to be a different color, currently they both glow the same color. I hate hitting for 1-5 dmg consistantly but I know this is being worked.
