Im on my way out so didnt get a chance to test it.. im imagining you have to be on a pure iron vein for an iron one to work? I just hit 100 blacksmith and started doing BODs. Really enjoying it so far though I already have no ingots and apparently you can't smelt colored ingots? I tried to use garg shovel 3 times and I even scouted the spot with pickaxe first to see if it was iron and it said it doesnt seem to be right spot.
I believe you have to use the gargoyle shovels on the floor of a cave. "Players will know they are in a cave in which the gargoyle's shovel will work because the cave will become darker and a system message will indicate they have entered the cave." This will eventually be expanded to dungeon regions as well. Trying to use the shovel in an area where you cannot find an elemental will result in a message indicating as much." Chris
