First off before I ask. What a great game. Talk about taking me back to '97. Wow. The first day a blue showed up and welcomed me to the game. Thank you all for making me feel young and to have fun again. Ok now. I log in using Razor and now something has went wrong. I was a GM Naturalist. I am trying to GM taming. However my taming is stuck at 81.0. I was taming for about 2 hours today and it did not move. It is not locked. The only locks I have used is the ones that have 0.0. I have Animal Lore and Resist locked. Both GM. But today for some reason my GM title disappeared. It just has my name as disreputable Bonejacker. The GM Naturalist is gone. I logged in once without razor and it returned. So I uninstalled the game and razor for a clean install. That did not help. Has anyone else have this issue and how do I unstick taming? Thank you in advance.
firstly, welcome to UOR Secondly, what are you trying to tame? This is a handy spreadsheet i believe created by a player in UOR, sorry i cant remember who to give credits. It shows you what you should be taming at what level, If you need a hand getting your taming up somewhere safe, feel free to message me and i can tame you some bulls to release which would require 77.1 to tame them. This should get your skill moving again no problems. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/15vgA3KvDM2nQpuBEAGrMPnJmrDGkg2GY-BcH29-MClE/edit#gid=0
I'm pretty sure you have to have at least one GM skill pointed up (and not locked) in order for it to display. Hope that helps.
Tyndall is correct in displaying a skill you need to have the arrow pointed up of the skill you wish to display, the rest you can leave locked if you have GM'd them. This does not solve your taming issue, you must tame the appropriate level mobs/animals for it to gain. Will need some more information on your part to help you further, i.e what are you trying to tame now?
You may also be at the skill cap (700 total points). Press the "Show Real" button on your skill sheet. If it's at 700, you won't get gains on any skill without reducing another.
Thank you for the replies. Ok the name comes back when I unlock one. However I do use the taming chart. I am taming the Giant Toads. I do that until at least 86. It wont work. I found a black frenzied ostard and tamed that. It took over an hour to tame. LOL The bulls are too easy. The toads are also not taming. I had one that had no name change and it took me about a hour. I do go other places in case someone has tamed them and did not change the name. I do know that it goes up by 6 each tame. The other skills that are not used are pointed down. It was moving fine about 2 days ago. I do notice when I use Razor my game flashes about once a minute and a dos screen does a quick pop up and disappear. I run Win X and have a gaming rig that is less than a year old. One last thing I have tried to tame without using Razor and it does the same. Thanks again for any advice or I am going to throw myself in Hythloth and just die. LOL
Your taming skill has nothing to do with your computer. Join irc, it's a chat program we all use. Link is on uor homepage, top left corner. Says irc chat room. I promise you you will get all your answers there. Have a good day!
Welcome Bonejacker! I just did some taming here on UOR, I am a new player and I can feel your pain when it comes to taming! It has been a tough road. I'm not gm'd yet but pretty close. However, a few things I did notice about taming.. the shown skill will not go up all the time when you gain.. some gains do not move the shown only the real. It took me awhile to figure that out since I was not seeing my gains and thought I may have been bugged. I think you maybe at that point where the gap starts to close. Also try getting a second or third taming attempt on a bull, that method worked well for me around your level. Let someone else tame it, release and then you try. It makes the % to retame lower and can give you some good gains. Just remember to label the pets so that other people know that it was tamed/released more then once. We would put our initials (or in my case my name Tol) on the pet following the other players initials/name.However you do it, this works a lot of ways and helps people identify if the animal has a decent % to gain. If you don't see any gains off an animal in about 10-15 mins, move on. That chart TiMi linked is great and what I used. I also got gains off toads and ostards, but it didn't take that long to tame one, I would say 20 mins tops? I would look at your overall skill cap for sure because I gained pretty good out in the swamps and doing tames on previously tamed bulls. Good luck! See yah around -Tol
