Dont be ripped off by Pill, there is an open spot not even 1 screen to the south. I just tested, Large house with patio fits. House I placed is demolished now so the spot is open.
With all due respect (meaning very little...), a lot of people aren't interested in running all over the map gambling on where a house will or will not fit. I do this for them, as I hate monster farming and enjoy this a little better and it is the opportunity for me to put a little coin into my pocket. I don't think that my starting bid is unreasonable for the spot I am offering and the time I have spent. I could instead, troll the forums and find people selling houses and then post what houses can be placed by them, but instead, I go about my own business.
Pill just wants you to buy from him so he can farm you. His tower is north just a few screens under the guard tower.

Personally, I've always considered the Britain Crossroads/XRoads to be the intersection due west of Britain just beyond the mountain pass. The Compassion crossroads are entirely different and any time someone just says 'The crossroads', my brain immediately thinks about the roads west of the mountains. In any regard, at least Pill isn't trying to gouge in this sale. 30k for a 'for sure' placed large spot, isn't a terrible deal, if the buyer is willing. He's clearly learned from the north of Trinsic sale, what is reasonable to post for purchase prices.
