Hey. Im an old school UO player thats new to the shard and need some help acclimating. Just a few quick questions I promise... Do skills get harder to train once you go past a certain amount of total skill? example: Training resist takes 2 nights of macroing at 700 skill but only one night if your train it first. Can anyone link me to a skill details page specific to this shard? Like a page that lists the bonuses for alchemy/lumberjacking exc...? Hows the PvP scene on this server? Are there player run tournaments? Is there PvP hotspots like the outside of Wrong dungeon for example? Are there a lot of player vendors that offer basic GM goods and restock often? Or should I just start a crafting mule now? Thanks a ton in advance and I hope to murder you all soon. -Zim
Skill gain is the same everywhere, any time no matter if you're wearing pants or not. See the Guides forum for A MEGATON of guides, there's one "master guide" which links to all useful guides ... so many guides man ... knock yourself out !! Many people here have several gm crafters ... GM gear is pretty easy to come by so no need to train one yourself unless you wanna join the bod business. PKs should all fall on a bag of breadsticks.
Hail and welcome...invader? Zim! Skill gain is not affected by your current skills. You only have to make sure you have the arrows set correctly for point allocation when training. PvP ebbs and flows. I've been in many small fights and a handful of larger fights of 10 or more players. I've heard of larger as well but I'm also only a part time PvPer, if not just a hobbyist. There's a ton of player vendors but many have multiple crafters for the Bulk Order Deeds and their subsequent rewards. Definitely hop in IRC and hang out a bit, ask questions and make idle threats while you train your would-be murderer.
Welcome on the shard! If u need some weapons to start ... Just PM me on IRC (Ker) and we can meet at occlo! Gluck to you
Thanks for all the wonderful replys! I cant wait to get out there and start playing UO again. Thats good to know that skillgain is not affected by total skills. I can train up my weponskills and pay for my own magery and I can max my skills and get my stats up before I train.. One last thing. I was trying to find a hirable mercenary to macro my combat skills last night and for the life of me I couldnt find one. Are they a part of the shard? Will anyone lend me a house to macro in so someone wont come gank me and steal my 2k bandages and all my skinning knives and daggers while Im macroing in some random and remote location????
I think YOUNG players can't be stolen from. Just use razor and make a 2nd account. Throw some bandaids on him, a quick healing macro, and watch ya GM in no time. This way, you can also work up an alt dexer to play around with.
But dont you go grey from attacking another player? ::edit:: ...someone not in your guild/faction exc...?
Flag yourself grey outside town, start fighting him, and eventually his grey will wear off and u can continue battling (both being blue). Walk em in to your macro spot. U can use Alt-Left click to have the alt follow you.
If you're willing to leave the Young program, there are several new player guilds ready to help you train safely. Best practice for sparring is to make an alt and spar with them.
Standard RunUO math for magery spell circles is: Minimum Skill : ( (100 / 7) x (Circle - 1) ) - 20 MaximumSkill : ( (100 / 7) x (Circle - 1) ) + 20 So the skill difference between circles shouldn't be 10 points but 14,3 (100 / 7) points.
Hey Zim, PM in the chat room. Vlar. I can set you up with a house in Stormhold you can use to train and live for as long as you need.
