Hello everybody, since i don't really have some spare personal time since a few months, i decided to only log in to refresh my houses... I did refresh my houses every sunday at 12:00 and i did had a reminder set up on my smartphone for it. Now my houses are decayed and i don't know why. They all where north east of minoc mines, crossing the bridge heading to vesper. It was an L-2 Story villa, two regular villas and a small tower wich i had setup as a personal rune library (with t-hunt runebooks). Now everything is gone and if i ever return, i'll have to start from -> 0.... wich makes me think about not returning.. Anyways, i'd like to know if there was a server restart oder something like a timewarp within the last two weeks wich may be in conflict with my sunday logins to refresh the houses. Was it? P.S. sorry foe the bad english
There was no revert afaik. We had reboots but there was always a safe point right before?! Buuuuut on the other side, I had refreshment issues with sheeps ~2 weeks ago! And I didnt understand why.
I was away for the last two weeks and I did not experience any refreshing issues with my houses. I refreshed them before I left and they were at the correct stage of decay when I returned. In my time on this server I have only ever seen one players house go idoc and fall because of bad luck server revert. I was actually camping the house when it was about to fall, the owner refreshed it within the last minutes of idoc, and then there was a server revert... he didn't log back on to refresh it, and it fell. I don't think this is the case here, though. The only thing I could think of is an error on your part. I've never had a house fall, but man, I've had at least 100 boats decay out of my own error.
yeah maybe but i couldn't think of it how it may happen... as i said, i have a reminder on my smartphone who rings continuously until i open it and stop it by hand for that specific day... darn.. how long is the decay timer here? 2 weeks i think? even if i forgot to refresh my houses on one sunday, there's plenty time afterwards.
Time in the real world can pass by so fast you can easily lose track of what the state of things are in the UO world. You are not the first and won't be the last, but I know that isn't any consolation. Hit me up if you need help replacing anything or just someone to adventure with and remember: you only lost pixels, replaceable ones at that.
Thats true and i dont wanna contact any staff or so and make trouble getting my things back. When i got the time to play again, i'll just have to start over. I also didnt lost any real expensive, just alot of runes, kegs and resources.. unfortunately but anyways... Thx to all for your replies! Have a good weekend!
@Enslaved, when you do have time to play again, just remember that starting from scratch was what got you hooked on the game in the 1st place. And in my experience starting from scratch (with Knowledge) makes for bloody good fun. I hope you do decide to come back at a later Date and enjoy the game again.
Thanks and yeah i will come back. But losing everything i worked and fought for as a casual player... its still in my mind
I believe we got this idoc and placed a LTower here? @Lumbie or @GetZ Payd ? Still have it you could sell it to this guy when you’re ready to upgrade
Don't get me Wrong, when i play UO (since '97) i always enjoy it BUT when i played here, i didn't even reached 1 million gold or something, just casual play since i don't really have time to play all day/every day a week so THAT what i HAD gathered in my house WAS MY fulfillment of a relaxed UO live when i logged in. I wasn't really rich on gold nor items but what i had took alot of playtime for me, and thats it what i miss when i have to start over.... Just casual stuff but it was mine and i "worked" for it with the time i had.
In case you are interested, PM me. You can explain me how you worked for your lost wealth and I might have some advice how to increase the income per hour while doing that what you did. Imho, knowledge and skill is the most valuable thing a player can own. And you will never lose it.
Completely agree with the knowledge being the most valuable. One of the things that drew me into the server was the extensive guide section. So much selfless knowledge in there passed down from vets who could have easily kept quiet about the ways they obtained their fortunes. I'm there with ya about stuff I worked for and losing it. It's not so much about losing the pixels but the rl time spent and energy put into acquiring those personally desired items. Over time along with the mistakes I've made of losing those items, I've become less attached to them. The whole "it's just pixels" thing can get a little annoying though. I get it, but at the same time it's the same players saying that who also have issues with pvp mechanics and certain gameplay since "it's just a game". Collecting pixels has the same enjoyment that others gain from pvp or whatever else they enjoy and come back to UO for. No ones enjoyment of the game is more important than another's.
Really sorry to hear you lost your houses. I think that is one of the worst think in UO that can happen. It is best to refresh 2x a week, if you only do it once all it take sin one mistake clicking the house sign or similar to lose your houses. Maybe consider friending someone and asking them to help out refresh? If you have a table wall and secures set to co-owner or higher, they will not be able to access any of your stuff.
Table wall, no access to secure chests, cover tiles so blade spirits cant be casted on. And leave doors unlocked. Then start friending house looters doing door checks, leaving a few fish steaks on ground so they're inclined to return and bam... stress free break from UO
