OK so some people may think this ridiculous and I know nothing of computer coding but I have a proposal that I could see being put to good use. Donation Boxes. Craftable by carpenters or perhaps purchased from a banker. It would be like a ballot box that can be placed in a home and allow gold (coin or checks), silver, or platinum to be dropped on to by anyone but can only be collected by the person who placed the donation box. It would be very similar in menu when double click to that of the vendors. It would show how much is available of each currency, if you wanted to get fancy you could put who donated what amount and when. You could use a simple menu to collect the donations and they would automatically be sent to your bank box. I think this could be used in a lot of guilds, for RP, asking for donations to fund an event, tip a tavern, or help someone in need. People could freely come and go and make their donations without having to meet up with someone in game to exchange funds. Just a thought...
Sounds legit, but why not just allow it to withdraw donation funds from your bank, with a signature of who it came from? Seems do-able, but probably not going to make it high on the wish lists.
or lock down a pile of coins... anyone can add to that. I have a "Free" vendor that has a stack of gold in front of him. The pile grows by MAGIC !
Worst idea ever. Someone like Wodan would use one of these because of all the good he does for the shard. And I'll be damned if I'm going to support something that helps out that filthy bastard.
This idea has been discussed in the past in a simpler form. Basically creating a new type of security level for secure containers called "mailbox". Players would be able to drop items in the box even if they were not friended. However only a co-owner/owner of the house could remove items.
Sounds like a good idea, but you'd have to make sure you can't have a bunch of people all drop a thousand individual worthless items in there like it's a garbage can.
I don't know, it sort of ruins the whole "new player" nostalgia when they can acquire enough cash to buy a small keep in the first day. But I do agree with donating though, because I have a ton of stuff I'm too lazy to sell that might be useful to someone else.
Not a bad idea. I like the secure mailbox idea the best though. treetop I don't think it would ruin anything because a player would still have to ask for donations and other players can still deny them. Its not forced donations.
