Just wondering, starting to build my 2nd character on 2nd account as my first is macroing. Is stealing fun/profitable? Or has it been nerf batted to hard?
Profitable, no. Fun... I think so. The odds are certainly stacked against thieves, which keeps a ton of people from doing it. On the plus side, that means people rarely see thieves and thus aren't typically ready for it.
If you learn how to do it intelligently it can be fun and profitable. I don't PvE really. I've never had a tamer that wasn't solely for taming llamas or a bard but I've never been wanting for money as a thief and I amassed a small fortune on OSI and Defiance through stealing (not scamming). I came to the shard two weeks ago and I've only been able to steal for a week here but I've already gotten an 80k check in a bag, 7-8 vanqs, 6-7 powers and 3-4 silver/force weps. You just have to avoid becoming a bank rat - randomly stealing crap like regs and things. To me that's pointless and a waste of time. It takes patience to do it well. Disarming is effective. People here don't expect it apparently. If you are familiar with playing a mage I would recommend: Steal Snoop Magery Med Wrestle Arms Lore Hiding Although I use an 8 skill hybrid. Only Wrestle and Stealing are at 100%. I usually carry around 30 of each reg, 2 pouches and 3-5 of each pot. Sometimes I'll bank the bag if I'm going to attempt a low value town steal but otherwise I'll usually risk it but that can become very expensive if you don't know what you're doing so maybe get used to the char first. Although my low dex requires that I carry some refresh pots in case I fail the disarm.
