Looking for help with adding counters to walk on in my log cabin [SOLVED]

Are there any guides/videos on how to add ladders and counters to walk on in a house? I've seen the stuff for tower bridging, but I'm struggling getting the counters above the walls on my log cabin. I have seen a house with counters where I want them, but I cannot figure out how to do it. Thanks in advance!
