Looking to move the King's Library - WTB Large Stone Keep, Castle, or Fortress

So this is probably a long shot...

After having gone through all of the initial books to display in the King's Library, there is just no way I will ever have enough lockdowns or physical space for them. Already the book count is over 400, and I have not even transcribed the various forum stories or added my own stuff in yet (not to mention room for future growth). Simply put, the 2-Story house that I have is not big enough.

After looking at the various houses and sizes (and their lockdowns), obviously a Fortress would be the most ideal, but I doubt anyone would sell one. The next best would be a Large Stone Keep (a Castle, although more lockdowns, has a terrible layout for a library like this). Anything else simply does not have enough initial lockdown space or is just not a good layout.

If anyone is willing/interested in selling one of these large style locations to be the new home for the King's Library, please do let me know, and what your asking price is.

Well, if there is a large stone keep in minoc for sale, I would certainly take a look at it! Would be interesting to be library neighbors!

if my memory doesn't trick me you can buy more lockdowns for the house with plat, because you will eventually run of lockdowns even in a fortress

Probobly not enough physical space in the old location to openly display all the books,not merely a question of the lockdown count alone. But you are correct that plat can buy more lockdowns and/or secures.

Yeah, definitely not wrong there, but what Eldstorm said is correct - the actual physical space is not enough in a L-story for so many books. Plus, the amount of platinum to add that many lockdowns (50 platinum per 25 lockdowns) would be huge. Probably around 10m worth at least, but then there is still the issue of physical space.

@Alex Caember, you have my complete and utter sympathy about the expense of lockdowns. People seem to forget, too, that you have to lockdown not just the books, but all the shelves or pedestals needed for displaying them ... that makes the cost prohibitive. In the Trammel Library just one stack of shelves requires 11 lockdowns: 6 shelves and 5 scrolls. Multiply that by 40 and you have my most basic lockdown requirements. Then add on the tables with all the things displayed on them in between the stacks of shelves, and so on and so forth, just in the main room alone and you are talking about absolute millions. Hence my decision to start the Trammel Library thread so that people can at least see what is going on. If I find time it would be fun to create a small Trammel-Library Walk-Through video, though I'd need advice on how to do that.

I bought multiple extra lock downs for my keep. Best option for that would be large tower +, I do have a large tower i just placed and can have the spot, if you don't find what you are looking for.

@Azoth - Yeah. I mean, I *could* just lock down the books floor to ceiling in big piles to get 100% lockdown efficiency, but that just looks like garbage. The lockdowns are a mixture of not just the books (though prioritizes them) but also things like shelves/tables.

@Xegugg - I have a tower at present, and the 250 lockdowns is still woefully inadequate (though towers have great physical space!). Even with platinum add-on expansions, it very quickly becomes prohibitive (a tower only has 100 more lockdowns than the current library) in terms of the amount of platinum required. With 400 books currently (and more incoming), I really just need a place that has a lot more lockdowns. No matter what I end up with, I will need to use platinum to augment its lockdowns, but I would like to minimize just how much platinum is needed (it is way easier to acquire gold than it is platinum, and it is not always easy to even buy enough platinum).

I am nothing if not patient. I am in no rush, so I am sure the right place will come along eventually. Maybe not today, or tomorrow, but some day


I have had a couple offers thus far - so there is also location and such to consider. One offer was good in terms of lockdown space - it was a keep plus several connected buildings, but at a price tag that was too high (the location wasnt bad though!); I am entertaining another offer, but it is a rather remote location which I am not super thrilled about, but it's not bad by any means.

perhaps drum up interest and vie for a new server feature that properly displays books?

Book cases that are like chests, to have a view only feature so people can open them up to look at with out having to take out.

Oh how I wish we had a spare fortress at the Stormhold!

Chris has stated that a fix for books is coming in this next patch along with CuB, Moats, etc, so hopefully no wonky ways will be required to utilize books
