I've been looking through the forums for a while now and find it gets kinda crazy in the trading section. Ive played a lot of other shards and seen a lot of different forum set ups. Was thinking it would be way more convenient if we added a few tabs to the trade section. What do yall think....

Suggesting to add these tabs instead of just a trade tab. Make a

    Buying
    Selling
    Vendor House
    &
    A suggestion for uor tab

BUYING - way easier to find out what ppl want

    SELLING - self explanatory

VENDOR HOUSE - a good place for these 100+ thread posts

UOR SUGGESTIONS - great place to place ideas rather than lose it in the uor discussion tab

    Thoughts?

There's 6 active posts in the trade forums on average going at a time.
If we can't manage that... perhaps we shouldn't be trading or selling at all.

UOR suggestions - Yeah, great idea! That's likely turn into one of our more "entertaining" sections.

Do agree, it would be nice to see Buying/Selling as well as maybe pricecheck.

Not sure everyone is aware but we have an icon system for all trade posts with a variety of icons you can use to identify your posts. Xenforo does not have a way to aggregate posts from sub forums into a master forum so it wouldn't be that handy to have them divided.

We are however working on a forum performance upgrade/look update very soon and can look into options then.

My opinion, FWIW, is that the current buy/sell icon system is perfectly adequate but I would like to see a separate forum for house sales/wanted. It wouldn't need to be retrospective, just adding a house trade forum would do it assuming that from then on people would have the intelligence to use it ;-)

Just wanted to toss in my 2 cents here...

Was a sys admin (and forum admin) for a company who had a very active forum, news portal, and all that good stuff. You do NOT want too many sections. The more sections = the more spread out discussions are and the harder it is for people to keep up with discussions. I know that sounds silly since it should be easy for people to click on different sub-forums but that's unfortunately the way it is.

The company that bought my previous company went and made WAY too many sub-forums (also had over-bearing mods that discouraged arguments...which is forum-killing) and turned a forum & portal that was bringing in a LOT of money on ad revenue alone & visitors (along with the a about 30x that a month in subscriber fees to the ISP who mostly set their home page to that site) into something that's now basically a parked page that doesn't even bring in $500 a month...

If anything it might be a good idea to find a way to merge some of the less active sections in my opinion. As for the trade forum, yeah it's fairly active but certainly not hard to keep up to date on. The different icons a person can set for their posts makes it fairly easy to see what a post is (for sale, price check, buying, etc) and there's not so much activity that stuff disappears off the first page quickly. If it ever got to the point where stuff that was posted less than a day ago was not even on the 1st couple pages then maybe it'd be time for sub forums, but it's not close to that point yet.

Also Keza provided a great link for keeping up to date on all forums here in that "New Posts" link.
