First, while the guide here say stats go up on a critter being successively tamed a couple times, which is true in current EA UO, I have found the opposite to be true as it was originally in OSI getting the message ..that wasn't even a challenge..type of thing.

The guide is wonderful for power players, but I have a puny little girl that is more of a naturalist kind of player and have no clue how to progress without getting killed as no real fighting skills, etc. Now that I can do grizzlies and harts and am 8 pts away from bulls, where can I go or what critter should I look for that doesn't require the support of other toons, mine or otherwise?

    Please help.

You can run around dagger isle and tame - many people do this.

I guess you're at 63 skill from your post? Snow leopards are good for that level. You'll also get gains off of polar bears. At 65.1 you can start on white wolves.

Retaming refers to taming animals other tamers have previously tamed. You will not get gains releasing and retaming the same animals yourself.

You don't need to fight to go there. There are the occasional snow elementals and frost trolls, but they are pretty easy to avoid. There's a guild of PKs that live there, just don't bring anything valuable with you and you'll be fine.

If you own a boat, you can even drive around the island and tame. (Attack animals to get them to come towarda you and then tame them).
