    Hello all!

I'm a new player here on UOR and boy am I happy I found this shard.

I'm no noob to UO, at least the oldschool one. I started out in the Dread Lord era and still remember the fear that a tank mage could instill with a few fireballs. I have fond memories of getting my ass handed to me in my humble beginnings on Atlantic, reaching GM fencing and participating in the order/chaos wars of old. I eventually moved to Drachenfells and left a few months after the introduction of Siege Perilous.

I haven't played for ages, save for a brief stint in 2010. I did a couple of homebrewn shards in the early 2000s and always found that either they took too many liberties at creativity (and thus unbalancing everything) or the good ones I found ended up dying from lack of playerbase: remember when every new MMO would empty a shard of its population?

My plans are to eventually join a faction and help out in occasional pvp. If anyone has tips, they are most welcome, especially those centered around a dexer-lumberjack build and an inscription mage.

I'm looking forward to playing with you all! If you see me on mIRC and want to come and chat, feel free!
Also, on a side note, I'd like to extend my thanks to Blaise for his freesist party and Apoc for his generosity in helping me raise my magery with a good head start on reagents.

    See y'all on the flipside!

Welcome to UOR! Lumberjack Axer is a great build and you'll have a crap load of logs when your done. Inscripition Stun mages are just about the most popular faction pvp build, lot of heal mages around too. Faction fighting has been fairly active lately. You could run with us [CoM] for a first hand look at pvp here when your ready.

If you could survive the golden era of Atlantic, you can survive anywhere.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!

And a preemptive "Nicely done" to the person who first kills me. Shouldn't be too long as UO goes.

Again, thank you Blaise, Apoc and Gideon for all the help.
    See y'all!

@Ragnarok: I survived that golden age in the sense that I enjoyed the game a lot but got my ass handed over quite a few times. Still liked it.... maybe I should go see a shrink.

@Kermit : Name was Mortis both on Atlantic and Drachenfels. Played a fencer on both shards. As for the LJ, damn! I'm stuck at 65 shown skill since sparring won't take me higher. Guess I'll get to chopping. Is it longer than doing the 65-100 run in mining?

@Artex : I do need a refresh class (veeerryy rusty) in pvp and would gladly accept some coaching. Is this your name on IRC as well?

If you want help with LJ, I made a macro with using the axe object, then the target I converted to relative location (right next to you). Then drop the logs to relative loction next to you. Loop it, walk next to trees and switch over to doing something else. Switch back, move to next tree...rinse repeat. I didn't care about the boards, though. You could walk another account behind it,scaveging and making into boards, I suppose.

Also, if you stand in a grove of 4 trees, you can each tree if you stand in the center.

The high tech ASCII representation below will demonstrate this to you.

T= Tree (of any classification as long as it is choppable)
    Y= Your well dressed Avatar
_= text based spacer, suggesting grassy knolls or other terrain between the trees
-= text based spacer, suggesting a possible (magic) arrow being shot at you by Pork Fried Rice

    T____T
    ----Y
    T____T

    This formation also works

    T____T
    ----Y
    T
