    Hi Guys

getting on for the first time in 15+ years.
I always had builds that were good at everything and great at nothing. I really just want to focus on PVM.
Always preferred warriors but it seems they can't always get the job done.
Should I go for a provoke or tamer build for more damage?

    right now I have

    swordmanship
    tactics
    anatomy
    healing
    parrying
    resist spells
    animal taming
poisoning but i hear thats useless when I can just buy weapons.

    going to drop poisoning

What would be a better choice tame or provoke and what would the suggested skills be?

    thanks!

Drop parrying unless you're going to use a shield, but that's not necessary. For a new character and just getting back into it, build a PEACE/PROVO bard.
Drop resist and taming as well.
Pick up Music/Peace/Provo - you'll have a nice, easy to train, build and you'll be making gold quickly!

A Provo dexxer is very versatile and fun. I think my template is swords, tactics, anatomy, healing, resist, music and Provo. Works very well for amibs and events like the undead dungeon

I’ll do a new build for a prov/peace if I can’t make a provoke with my current build

Ok so the primary damage source is peacemaking with monsters so they don’t stomple me and then making them fight each other?
Guessing I want dex to be high.
Intelligence to go along or strength?
With a build like this do I still use magic or melee (archery) as a backup damage source or will all my time be taken up using provocation/peace?

    Keep healing and anatomy?

How about a good mage build and a good archer build?

I would still like to build up my warrior listed above but don’t know if I’m wasting time for PVM.
Is there a good choice between a dexxer or mage for PVM?
I started an archer and started a mage build too for the heck of it.

So much fun and so happy to be playing again I just have to learn it all over again.

Here' the build you posted (I'm going to assume you're splitting points and not going for 8xGM):

    My thoughts:
    • You want some magery to get around. If you don't mind recall scrolls, I'd shoot for at least 30 shown. If you go 30/70 with Healing, you should be in a good place.
    • You're right about poisoning--it's not worth the money, especially when you're starting fresh. Keep in mind that high-end monsters are poison resistant or can cure themselves.
    • Animal Taming needs Animal Lore and Veterinary. If you want a dex tamer, I'd drop Parrying and Resist. Keep in mind that Taming is a hard road, and while there are some shortcuts, you'll need a lot of help, which is tough to do when you're new.
    • If you want to go with Music, Peace, and Provoke (great build for PvM), you have crowd control and damage. Peace-dexxers do great, and Provo-dexxers are good too. You either beat on the baddies when they're peaced or fighting each other. Just remember to re-peace often since it falls off after a few hits.
So, in short, what I'm saying is:
    • Core skills: Swords/Anatomy/Tactics
    • Support Skills: magery (30)/healing (70)
    • Elective Skills: taming/lore/vet or music/peace/provoke
Finally, I recommend you seek out members of Project Sanctuary (like me!) who can help you get accustomed to life in UO:R. We're happy to help :)

    Thanks guys!

How do I seek out sanctuary members?

Seems like less talking at the bank and more macroing than in the old days
