I have yet to see one on this shard and I can't remember much about this era lol. Where are they? I always liked the chaos shields
What ever you do, e.g. house loot someone and get a shield, don't equip them if you are not in the right order/chaos system... else it goes poooooof. This said, they are available for order/chaos clans.
Poor Jack, hugs. Serious, a friend of mine had a bank thief character. He tried to steal one, and it went poof as he was trying to remove it. Didn't even have to equip. I thought it was funny. He saw the flash, but the fellow he was trying to steal from didn't. Kept yelling, where's my shield. lol Westra/Marjo Governess of Wispfelt
Ahh ok. Have to be in the faction to use them. Oh well. Like the faction robes they go pooof if you equip them.
You need to be in a virtue guild to use the shields, not a faction. Also, I'm pretty sure faction items don't go poof but instead say you can't equip it. That's how I remember it at least, but I don't know how this shard has it set up.
A virtue guild? Guess I need to do some reading on those. I put on a faction robe i found and it went poof I think. Maybe Im wrong.
The Guildmaster would have to set the Guild to be Order or Chaos, then you would be "at War" with the opposing Virtue. If Order, say "Order Shield" to a Lord British Guard, if Chaos say "Chaos Shield" to a Lord Blackthorn Guard. Im pretty sure that's how it worked on OSI, it should be the same here.
In the old days, didn't you have to have a "reputation" standard for either Order or Chaos? Some faded memory, is nudgeing my brain: saying "Order had to be at least famed" thanks
That sounds familiar, but it has been too many years.... I also recall something like you couldn't be a murderer.. Order/ Chaos was always buggy from my memory and they never fixed it along with a LOT of other stuff. OSI was too busy adding more buggy stuff and not fixing what they had.
Near launch, you had to be a Great Lord to wear the shield and it let you attack players (they were blue, but you didn't lose notoriety) if that player held the opposing shield. If someone else put it on, it would explode and do damage to them (at least that's what I heard, I never tried it) When they added fame and karma to the game, you had to have 3rd level fame (Illustrious, Eminent, etc) to be in an virtue guild. You could literally res kill your enemies out of their guilds back then.
" You cant directly steal it though. Perhaps he stole the bag it was inside." LOL, maybe Blackey. Friend never said that I can remember. He was mainly amused by the fellow who couldn't figure out where his shield went. That's one reason I remember the tale, his laughing about it. Guess it just stuck in the brain. lol
