With the addition of patch 45 in the next few days we will be making a few changes to how character deletion is handled. After reviewing the archive of players kills, deaths and deletions we have discovered a trend of players creating characters for the sole purpose of murdering other characters or collecting the new player gold. Once the gold has been taken or the murder counts collected the character is deleted and another is created. In the last 12 months 90% of the characters deleted had more than 1 murder count, or next to zero effort placed in building their skills. In order to address these two abuses of the character creation / deletion system we will be making a few small changes. You will have to wait 14 days to delete a character from the time they are created You cannot delete a character if they currently have any long term murder counts. Name changed deeds will be reduced from 150k to 100k. These changes will go into effect with Patch 45. So if you need to delete any characters that do not meet the above requirements now is the time to do it. Note: In certain situations the staff will be able to assist with deleting a character that cannot be otherwise deleted due to the long term murder count check. However it must be clear that the character was not used for the above listed purposes.
Im still extremely new, is this just a clip of the patch, or can we see the whole patch details before it is released?
This is just one of the patch changes that will have a significant impact on some people so fair warning is being given.
the deletion of long term count murders is silly.... there should be an age limit on characters of that nature. if they are 30 days old then u can delete them just so ppl know ive never deleted a long term count player... but i just think restrictions on how ppl use the slots of their accounts of this nature are silly
Hi: I think deleting characters is a good idea. Although I do not macro skills,(exceptions some characters stats and hiding) I found on my 3rd account I had duplicated skills which I had on other characters. Thus I gave these gals the long sleep. LOL Since I cannot live 24/7 in UO and my choice of play styles, it take me a long time to build up skills, so it might seem few of these are no great effort. A couple I haven't decided yet which direction I wish to take the character in. This being said, thank you for giving us the "heads up" , I deleted my duplicate skills characters. Thanks for the warning guys As always, staff...great job, thanks for all the hard work. Westra
Howdy, I created, then deleted one character like this. It wasn't for the gold -- I needed some mid-level tinker boxes for lockpick training and forgot to make and label them while building my carpenter. It seems odd to me that folks would do this for the new player gold. Or that there'd be any reason to sweat it if they did. There just isn't enough gold involved. Anyway, I also want to say thank you for the fantastic job you've done building a fun game! I'm enjoying myself immensely. Regards, Wil
In these situations, players can still delete characters, just after a slightly longer wait, which if you just needed some additional supplies would be acceptable.
