Patch 46 Change Notice

    The following changes will be coming in patch 46. This patch will be applied around 12/20/2013

    • Sheep Farms
      • While updating the attended verification system for patch 46 it was discovered that sheep were currently providing players with double the amount of wool as they should have, This was a system left over from trammel in which resource production was doubled in felucca. We have also updated the process that manages the health of animals inside a players house.
      • Sheep will provide 1 wool per sheer.
      • When sheering a sheep inside a house a check will be made of the conditions in the house.
      • Should there be less than 10 animals in the immediate vicinity and not in tight confines the sheep will bear wool in 1 hour.
      • Should there be more than 10 animals in the immediate vicinity the time in which it will take sheep to regrow their wool will be increased at a rate relative to the population density and living conditions.
      • Should there be more than 50 animals in the immediate vicinity, the sheep will become unhealthy and eventually decay.
      • The flag rate for sheering when monitored by the attended verification system has been reduced. Players will not be checked as often when sheering sheep.
        Note: Should this be the case you will see the following message when sheering. "You notice this sheep is starting to look unhealthy."
        Note: We already have a sheep population system in place currently, however it was imprecise and only checked a single factor. Players running a small sheep farm will not notice a change.
    • New Players & Sheep
      • A new strain of untamable sheep will be added to Ocllo island.
      • Thanks to the efforts of the Ocllo farmers new players will have reliable access to sheep.
        Note: Attempts to herd the sheep in will be quickly dealt with by the Ocllo farmers guild.
      • Cotton has now been planted in the Ocllo fields as well and is available for harvest year round.

    • Halloween Holiday Vendor
      • This is your last chance to purchase halloween rewards for 2013.
      • The vendor will be removed and replaced with the Christmas reward vendor once patch 46 is implemented.
    • Attended Verification System
      • The time to respond to an attended verification is now dependent on the amount of past failures your account has had.
      • The most often you fail an attended check, the shorter the time you will have to respond to the prompt.
      • Houses must now be placed while attended.
      • Rares must now be collected while attended.
        Note: While this has not been discovered to be a problem on UO:R we are going ahead and turning this system on.
    • Remove Trap.
      • Patch 46 will allow players to train remove trap up to 98 skill using player made traps. 98.1 to 100 will need to be trained on level 4 dungeon chests, town chests or treasure map chests.
        Note: Previously players could only train remove trap to approximately 90 using player crafted materials. This will be reviewed further but for now will address the skill gain issue.
    • Name Change Deeds
      • Due to the mistake in last months patch this is your last chance to get a 50k refund when using a name change deed. After patch 46 NCD's will drop to the correct price of 100k. We will no longer be refunding the difference after the patch for previously purchased NCD's.

    If you have previous gump failures will the timer already be reduced, or will it start the same for everyone and start being reduced from now on?

    It will be based on your current account marks. With 10 seconds reduced for each mark.

    1 mark, you have 110 seconds to respond.
    3 marks, 90 seconds to respond.
    9 marks, 30 seconds to respond.

    The staff however will still review account marks on a case by case basis if you feel you missed one but were attended. However if this becomes a chronic request, we will request you change the activity that is resulting in being checked so often.

    Also marks for things like fishing, sheering, collecting bod's and the like can be audited by the staff should you have any marks on your accounts due to those activities.

    The system remains as an informative tool to make it clear to new players that gathering needs to be attended. Its is not meant as a punishment system unless players abuse the systems leniency. Once you have collected your 9th mark for mining, it is probably time to seek another ingame activity.

    I think this patch plus the vigilance of the cA Department of Sheep Husbandry will ensure a bright tomorrow for the sheep!

    That is just a fancy way of saying don't pack to many animals together in close confines. The exact mechanics of this are still being tested.

    Any chance the enhancements to the website to give more regular/accurate counts of items in the world (rares) will make this patch?

    Yes and No.

    The process that exports the worlds item data has been completely re-designed to be more efficient and include additional details to help the staff monitor the world.

    It has also been configured to export item and house details every 24 hours. While leaving all of the existing processes to run every 2 hours.

    The Item graphs and item list will be updated using a secondary processing step that happens ever day at around 6am once the patch is applied.

    The Item detail pages will always be up to date as they are direct reads from the database. The item list however will now be updated with the same process that updates the graphs.

    After Patch 46 this will be the process. This could take a few weeks to get going smoothly as I am still re-writing the daily process that reviews all the data exported to the website.

    You lowered the prices of NCD's to encourage people to reuse characters instead of deleting. Why not do the same for character transfer deeds?

    Remove faction trap still require tinkering?

    For the moment yes. 80 tinkering and 80 remove trap are required to have a chance. I did add a message clarifying the reason for failure now so if you have no chance to remove the trap it will alert you to this.

    The price change was because we changed the rules for deleting characters. Character transfers/swaps were added when the server expanded from allowing 2 accounts to 3 accounts. For the time being those prices will stay the same.
