We can have up to 15 characters here. That's a lot of names to think of! I was wondering how the rest of you decide yours. I know some people go decidedly less creative (saw 3 toons with the same name banksitting together yesterday), and some people get TOO creative (hence the Generic Players running around ). What do you do? I seem to name most of mine after anime (Caska from Berserk) game (Buddy from LISA the Painful/Joyful), or musical characters (Mrs Lovett from Sweeney Todd). My bard is LilGwenno because old-school Ultima is awesome and I couldn't think of a good Iolo/YOLO joke name. Generally I try to match the name to the character type I have in mind but not always. So what about you all? How do you come up with names?
My naming conventions are usually twists of somewhat more common names, similar to what George R.R. Martin does with his characters. Martyn is one of my characters, simple but with a little flavor, I think.
This was my inspiration since my 1st char back in 2000: Other than that, I try to stick with real names. Mostly from famous people I admire (like Melissa Benoist). I also like portuguese names or other language names, they feel real and exotic at the same time.
