Just wanted to say hello. I played UO in the early 2000s on both a private shard and the retail server. I recently signed up for UO renaissance hoping to see a good community and a nice place to hang out and do some light RP. I have two questions, mainly... 1. I can't find any players. I was hoping to jump on and start chatting with folks about how to get started, and maybe make some friends. Walking around skara brae, I got the sense that no one is playing - even if that's not true. What are the areas where people actually hang out and play, and how would I find them from the start point of the game? The new player guides on this site are helpful for some things, but nothing has really helped me understand what to do in order to get my character going and meet some players. 2. The interface. I knew this would be tough to go back to after playing newer games for 13 years, but I was still astounded at how basic it is. I seem to be limited to an 800 x 600 window, which is absolutely tiny on my 30" monitor, or I can play fullscreen, which is both stretched horizontally and also flickers so badly near the title bar/top that I can't really use it. Are there any solutions for a decent full screen experience, or at least a larger window?

Welcome to Renaissance. Definately join IRC. That's really the best place to get help sarting out as well as see who's around and active.
You will find most of our players in IRC as others have stated. Right now there are 50 people in our IRC server. At the servers young age, most people are macroing in homes or wondering the lands and farming gold. Moonglow seems to be one of the more active banks at times though, and sometimes Skara.
