Has anyone used greater poison delivered via a melee weapon over deadly poison for some bosses (AMIB's, L7 maps, etc)? I'm thinking some downsides would be against caster types ... curing themselves easier. I also fear some of them might resist greater completely. I don't presently have a poisoner or I'd have tested this myself.
I can't offer any advice with regard to mob bosses - however, after using a DP'd Kat on my tank Mage for a week or so I have made an alchemist/poisoner to supply myself with a never ending supply of awesomeness. If you hit an NPC nasty with a DP or GP strike from a weapon, more often than not (in my experience) their cure casts are interrupted if they're a casting nasty or you just have to dance around a little till they die if they're just a melee nasty. I also went through all my CUB and pulled out all the magic kats, might, force etc and poisoned them. The combo is great and now that I have a poisoner I'm not so precious with the "charges" of poison as such where as previously when I'd been purchasing them I'd arm it - hit them with the poison then dis arm and re arm another weapon as to not waste the poison. I hope my experiences help in some way! Good luck regardless bud!
Greater poison usually isn't enough against some of the bosses, but a DP weapon is amazingly useful against most non-mage bosses, I always carry one on my dexxer because 2~ charges can deal more damage than a solid minute or two of spear whacking. It's great with boss monsters that spawn adds too, because you can focus on provoking the additional spawn, while the poison still does significant damage. It also helps immensely during group events like last weeks Christmas run through, and you are much more likely to be a top damage dealer.
Thanks. I am most keenly interested in caster self cure and immunity differences between greater and deadly on boss/mini boss like mobs. It's something I noticed when casting summons this past event. Energy Vortex applied poison on these mobs but blade spirits returned a immunity message. It's been difficult finding any greater poison... understandably.
