ive been provoing a bull onto a cow for hours with no gains at all, i need some tips on how the gain for this skill works on here as I'm sure other newcomers would like to know
I'll have Rainbow post a reply, hes really close to GM. I do know the skill is difficulty based here.
Heres a little helpful guide for all the people that wanna go provo. 0-30 Buy it. 30-83.0- Provo the frost troll onto the harpy or Ratman in the glow zoo. Opposite sides so they wont hit each other. You just gain. Remember to get about 20 of the same instrument and set your razor macro to convert by type. 83.0-97.0- GO after high end mobs. titans, Cyclopean Warriors etc... 96.0 -100.0- Do Ogre Lords or Destard. It'll take some work but perfectly doable. Just remember trapping animals and provoing onto yourself doesnt work here. This is what I did. Worked well for me.
Ive been working titans and cyclops for a bit and cyclops work nicely but I can rarely ever get a titan provoked. Did you have gm resist before you started. Did you just keep at it over and over? Titans just rip me up with only 35 resist
Just do Cyclopean Warriors to 97.0. Titans are gonna be rough with this AI. I found out the hard way myself.
ya a little trial and error I found out what I was doing wrong things are much better now slow and steady gains.
Skip titans all together. Go strait to OL's at 83. You can lure one to the top of the ledge just West of the island the 3 spawn at. Once one is up there... bring another to the bottom of the ledge and provo them on a loop. I'd advise auto following them AFTER you've succeeded in starting a fight. They tend to wander around a bit. If you can get them stuck in the SW corner, you'll be able to do it for hours on end without trouble. If they wander a bit north, they pathfind to each other and start fighting for real lol. Just keep an eye on it.
Great info.....I was able to Provo a air ele and kraken and once ele was oom it didn't do any damage few heals and you could go on and on. There is a bridge area that works great. Need to try ol area. The ol area you speak of I thought it was the trammel side I miss that area lots of ol for good loot.
The loot's mediocre in comparison with most of the high high end game, but they're relatively safe as long as you keep your distance. I'll just be using them to Lord my mule characters haha. If you're looking for quick money, there are far better options.
I stuck at 74.1 for about a day without gain. Is this still valid anymore or should i better ride to another spot?
It's possible that this location may not yield the same gain results as before, recently we implemented a patch which lowered the provocation difficulty across all creatures.
Very appreciated informatiom, thanks for that Ezekiel. I will leave the zoo now and hopefully find a better spot to spread my evil sounds.
Updated barding difficulty Info can be found in the compendium also. http://www.uorenaissance.com/info/?page=g_bestiary
Thank you! I am not sure I completely understand what the difficulty number means? For example a dragon says 112 (GM 101)? Also was looking through and I don't see Ophidian Avengers in the compendium? I don't know for sure if they are on the shard as I just started here (this is my first post). This shard looks amazing so far, I can't wait for live to start! Thanks for all your hard work.
I looked and I didn't see any notes in parentheses like you show there. But I believe those numbers show the required Barding skill to have a 50% chance of success, which means that a GM may have an unadjusted chance against a dragon somewhat lower than 50%. I believe that Provocation works by taking the average of the two target creatures barding difficulties, which would mean it isn't all that hard to provoke anything against a mongbat. Also there are ways to change those figures like exceptional/magical instruments and Discordance.
The difficulty is 112 for a dragon, so you will fail regularly even at grandmaster levels. However with an exceptional instrument you can increase your success rates. And isn't it Terathan Avengers? Our bestiary was built from the ingame mobile list, so we covered almost everything. http://www.uorenaissance.com/info/?page=g_info_t5&id=1079 Thanks for the comments, we are committed to creating a unique and enjoyable renaissance experience for our players, in game and on the website.
There were also Ophidian Avengers, which were part of the T2A release. http://web.archive.org/web/199910130905 ... aveng.html Thanks very much for the detailed monster desciptions in the Compendium! I was just guessing about what to train provo on until now.
