Hello fellow UORers, I hope today is treating you well. I have read in IRC recently that the PvM leader boards are going to be reset and that a total kills page will be added. I think this is great because it will re-motivate everyone to get PvMing once the counters are reset. I know I will be going for Mongbat champion in 2014 because Blaise is unworthy Now to my idea: Perhaps we can reward the people who put in the effort to be #1 in 2013 by leaving a permanant achievent on their player profile. "#1 Mongbat killer in 2013" or something like that. I am suggesting this because it would be a good way of paying homage to past champions, especially if they stop playing. I have a character that has #1 in several monsters but I don't plan on forever farming them so it would be nice to hit my profile in a few years and see that I have been the best at something, once. Discuss.
I have discussed this at length with myself and me, myself, and I. And we concur that this would be a good way to allow others a chance at becoming masters of certain monsters especially if some of the previous leaders who may have had a bazzillion kills cease playing, new slayers will have a chance to hold the same title. However, while I was discussing this with myself, I proposed that in addition to having the permanent achievement it should show how many kills it took to achieve that? or perhaps a color of the medal could indicate if they killed under 100, between 500-1,000, or 1001+? I would like to say we all appreciate your open thoughts. - Jupiter Greystone, et al.
Wise, I think I've heard Chris say he plans precisely what you said - a profile badge for each yearly champion for each monster.
The current plans are to award the leaders in every monster category a special golden icon in a new section of their player profile. The existing monster kill totals will be archived in a lifetime category in the monster database. The leaderboard will reset for 2014, while still allowing you to see the lifetime leaderboards (which will update yearly). This will keep the system accessible to new players. I will be revamping the player profiles(yet again) to break them into 3 sections allowing us more room to show this information. Most likely a Profile, PvM and Pvp tab for each character.
Whoa, thanks for making this post as I had not heard about this yet. My knee-jerk reaction is I'm very bummed to see the lifetime leaderboards go away. Well, I get that they'll still be there, but they'll never really be all that accurate if they only update annually. Would it be possible to have both an annual and a lifetime leaderboard that both constantly update? If that's not possible, maybe the lifetime leaderboards could update on a weekly/monthly basis? Also, when we say that the leaders in every monster category will get icons at the end of the year, are we talking only the #1? Or 1 through 3? Or 1 through 10?
Yeah, this was my thought as well. The plus side of the static lifetime lists is that they'd presumably load quickly, but the down side is that they'd not really be that useful. To me, lifetime leadership is what I strive for, but this may differ from others.
I think statues should be given out to the folks who are 1st-3rd in particular classes. I know my buddy Redding worked very hard for his rankings.
I really hate this mentality. Why "should" they be given? People work hard for things all the time in the game. The Leaderboard leaders are already recognized... on the leaderboard. I don't mean to pick a fight, but for some reason this really bugs me.
A small 1-3 plat statue for #1 only doesn't sound that bad. Perhaps for groups so #1 lizard #1 humanoid etc.
The PvM leaderboard is one of the drawing factors for me playing here. But I didn't expect any recognition of performance, the plan to award a golden icon is fantastic, but I don't think that anything with ingame value needs to be given. The ingame reward for killing things can be found on their corpses.
I am a pvm player and truly like the idea of some recognition for player achievements. Although I feel all three places should be recognized not just first place. I do believe the reward should not be in game. A special icon on the character profile, or even a page of it's own. Personally I love the ladybug icons. I feel clearing the leader board yearly is a great idea, this gives players and new players a chance to build up their kills. To be able to earn a place on the boards. Many players have limited time to put into game, and the yearly wipe makes more even ground for them. Thanks for this thread and thanks staff for all the great work Westra
We give trophies out for all sorts of nonsense. Being the leader in any PvM rankings is much greater task than showing up to some event and getting a lucky drop. I don't really care about the trophy myself but to argue that a trophy isn't deserved for such a task is incongruent with the award standards set elsewhere on the shard.
Better check that stat! I have been mongbat king for months. :-D Thank you very much Vlar! Respectfully, STFU! *puts up fists* Just kidding. Seriously, it would not break my heart if no awards were given, but.... I am happy to accept this award on behalf of all the PvM players out there. I'd like to thank Stormhold, my tambourine instructor, mom and Dad... Jesus. *trips over his own arrogance and does a face plant*
Howdy, Rather than just the tops in the categories, how about something like a "2013 10k club" for folks who've slain at least ten thousand monsters? I have #1's but they're an eclectic mix scattered around the categories. I'd hate to get left out! Regards, Wil
