Though I am admittedly no expert, I have made the following observation about the current state of PvM on this server: There seem to be a large number of monsters that are overshadowed by other monsters that are both easier to kill and drop better loot. Why would I risk killing Liches when I can walk away with more loot from the more easily killed Mummies? Why would I risk venturing into Cyclops/Titan Valley when I can walk away with more loot than the super easy-to-deal-with arctic ogre lords? Currently, I feel that the only two answers to both of these questions are 1) Because I feel like it and 2) PvM leaderboard points. Both of those answers are certainly worth enough to send me slaying Titans, Liches, Harpies, or w/e from time to time, but I personally feel like certain monsters could stand to have their loot table adjusted to drop loot more appropriate to their difficulty. NOTE: This post is not a "Waah, I want more loot for killing wimpy things" post. If anything, I am suggesting certain monsters have their loot tables knocked down a few pegs. Don't get me wrong, I love farming me some Arctic Ogre Lords. But if I'm perfectly honest, I feel like I'm cheating a little when I do so. Maybe I'm the only one who feels this way, just thought I'd put my thoughts out there and see what you guys thought
They are fairly easy to deal with, but pk traffic also shows up more often at say arctic ogre lords than titan valley. I often wondered if spawn timers could be adjusted to keep gold slightly balanced between spawns.
Haha, you think that's bad? WHat about when I'm farming AW's and they drop ~1500g, magics, gems AND 40 barbed hides. Yeah, I think more loot table adjustments are in order, but definitely something to hash out over time. I know I can make a few thousand gold in an hour just working a graveyard with my naturalist, so that seems about fair.
It's not as easy solo, but yes, I do it solo. I run it with my Disco-Tamer who's build was previously Taming/Lore/Vet/Magery/Med/Music/Discordance. However, I am presently in process of turning that up yet another notch to create the ultimate PvM template.....I'm dropping Med for Provocation. Versus solo mobs, Discordance just rocks, because once in effect, I barely need to vet unless I'm fighting a boss. The only time I ran into much trouble was with groups of mobs, hence provocation being added to the template. It's risky, PKs will have very little work to do, if they can get reflect down before the Gate Macro works. But really, when you're pulling 50-100k per hour, whoooooptie do! lol
So I'd like to throw a suggestion out since we are here: Liches and Lich Lords: I think their current max gold should be where their current min gold starts (300 and 600 range). These were always a mainstay of dex based characters but currently there are rarely people in covetous or deceit and I believe it's because of the low gold from these mobs. In fact I often see the newer dexers on ogre lord island just casting blade spirits with what magery they have. (No doubt these guys will give up and make a caster in time and I'm sure others have)
Parry works wonders. I was soloing OLs on Parry Mason in beta. I do agree that loot on basic liches could stand to be higher, but that would just make tamers farm them more. They should just have their ability to gheal to %80 health in 30s removed.
I could be wrong but...I swear I used to farm the crap out of earth elementals. I specifically remember their loot being 300+ gold, 2 gems, 2 mandrake, some ore and fertile dirt. I'd say their loot is like half that now. Maybe this was their loot table in AoS...? But I know I farmed them for YEARS on my dexxer on Sonoma.
Both liches and lich lords feel to me like they drop less in relation to other mobs. Lich lords are a lot more trouble to kill than daemons and they drop about the same stuff.
Seems like I was using a shield, but I really dont' remember. I will give it another shot w/ GM Parry + Valorite Heater and see how I fare
lich loot is where it was at for the time frame, it did however get buffed up to closer to 1k after osi had implemented the dmg for fame/karma. if anyone remembers back in the day atleast on cats there used to be a ton of casters that would sit up on the wall and dexers with silver would be down in the pits doing all the dmg and when a lord would get low they would all try to ks the ll to get the fame bump. after awhile when they did away with that setup where u had to do the majority of the dmg the ll wasnt farmed all that often since like you said you can go kill a daemon a whole lot easier and basicly the same loot so they bumped up the drop of gold to offset the difficulty.
