Hello, I used to be a power-player on OSI shards waaaay back when. And I had a question that I was hoping for some help with concerning fishing and special loot. Is the check for fishing loot based on the resource node area(meaning you EVENTUALLY will or won't on THIS particular node), or on the fishing act itself (meaning a node can contain zero or more)? Let me explain a little more if necessary... You are fishing a resource area which is, depending on the act, 8X8 or 5X5, correct? Is each cast a check vs. skill, open water AND a random number? Or is the check based on the resource node first, saying this player will or will not catch a sea creature with loot (and we simply wait)? To further this last question, can you fish an 'empty' sea creature as well (this is another random check)? I hope I was clear. Thank you!
Fishing is based on an 8x8 square. So long as you are in deep water (16 tiles from land) an have the required skill, you have a chance to pull a critter with every cast. At some point you will exhaust that 8x8 area and get the "not biting" message. Move 8 tiles and you are golden.
Thanks for the reply! Ok, next question, are the nodes designated to assigned a possibly 'loot' action per node. What I mean is, I am in my first 8x8 resource grid. I fish, fish, fish....BOOM! Sea Serpent! The node is not exhausted, but should I move anyhow because I have no more chance to get the 'loot' action of the server to fire. Or does the RNG work more like a check against things, but not with a limit (meaning I could theoretically get two big fish, a sea serp with a map and a sea serp with a MiB in four straight casts)? Thanks for the info. And I apologize if this is protected information or whathaveyou...just wondering to plan how to best fish for loot in the future.
SO long as you are in deep water and don't have the "not biting" message, then you have a chance for a critter.
