I have been able to find many topics on spawning rares but what about rare drops. I want to know if any rares drop on monsters. I remember killing evil mages for weeks trying to get special beard dyes. Are there any drops like this on Ren?
Rare furs have a very slim chance of dropping when skinning animals. There are 4 different kinds to my knowledge. Also, boss monsters usually have rare drops (special hued weapons, armor, etc) that will drop 1/500 or a similar crazy chance. I am not sure if there is a guide on this or not.
Correct, the revenant (skeleton boss) has a chance to drop a special hued shield or sword and the grand visor of chaos (executioner boss) has a chance to drop special hued executioners axe. All other boss mobs have a 1/400 chance to drop a statuette of their respective selves
Did not know about the furs! What types of animals do they drop on? I've skinned many ratmen, lizardmen, and dragon-types for their hides, but have yet to find a fur. The four furs I have found have come from a cow, a hind, a panther, and a bull. Not sure why I remember that... :lol: That was roughly skinning between 10k-15k leather I think. I found the first two on my first two leather runs for my tailor (700 or so leather) Then, about 8k leather later, I got my third. :shock:

Any creature that gives normal leather when skinned, will have a small change to provide a fur instead. This is an homage to the original system in 1998 when skinning an animal provided the classic style of fur. I think it would be a fun idea to implement minor rares on regular monsters. Even if it's 1/5000 drop rate it would make it worth it to fight lizardmen, regular evil mages, etc. On Defiance you have a small chance of getting a special beard dye from evil mage lords. It's a low drop but it created a demand for hunting lesser creatures that would have otherwise been simply overlooked. Cheers
Mimic - there is also a slim chance of platinum coin drops on most monsters, which can be redeemed for a nice variety of veteran rewards.
The Grand Visor of Chaos will drop a special executioners axe. The Revenant will drop a special scimitar and/or wooden shield. All other bosses auto-loot a platinum coin, and have a 1/400 chance at a rare statuette, which also auto-drops into your bag. Does anyone know if the Grand Visors Executioners Axe, Revenants Scimitar, or Revenants Shield auto-loot as well?
