Hello UO:R community! I'm Razfen, a fairly young player for this game at being 22 years old, playing from europe in a country where internet didn't exist at the prime time of this game. Over the course of my gaming years, I've played world of warcraft, runescape, and many others, but they didn't catch much of my attention, so eventually I moved to mmos where what you do actually has consequence. The list includes UO of course, as well as eve online, haven and hearth, asheron's call, and recently shroud of the avatar. Now I'm a fairly new player to this shard, and have only played UO on the UOSA freeshard, but the lack of content and community made me stop playing there (I've been in two guilds there altogether, both of them were fairly established and competent, but both just disbanded a few days after i joined due to inner drama). So now to a little bit on the questioning side, I've never played in this era, I have absolutely no idea how viable are halberd tankmages here, so I'd ask this from the pvp gods of the server, how well do tankmages perform here? My primary interests lie in field pvp, dueling and dying a lot, especially on the bard i'm training up right now. Also, how differently do they play when compared to the pre-renaissance era tankmage of insta-hit combo stuff, harm disruption and that kinds off stuff? That'd be all for now, thanks in advance, and hope to meet you all eventually!
Welcome to UOR razfen! Many of the pvp mechanics are different here. Check out the guides section in the forums for pvp builds. There's no insta hit here so that really nullifies the hally tank as you know it. A lot of people go 5x fencer (for para blow), heal stun mage (anatomy and wrestle here give you the ability to stun) and inscription mage. Many other builds work of course depends on your play style. No magical invis hats, tele rings, reflect clothing etc. Wands are a big part of field pvp, g heal, mana drain and lightning are the most popular. Few zerg groups here but you can still find a 1v1 without them calling in. Many groups are voip and are well coordinated. Owner of this shard played on SA back in the day as many of us have. Tons and tons of content, fishing is awesome (read up on it), tmap hunting with added content, crafting rewards, smithy runic weapons, champ system with plat vendors, special themed events around holiday times, information available from the website is amazing and all of the player written guides are very helpful. I would suggest finding a few pvp videos online from UOR players and get a first hand look. Disruption is big here if you can break their rhythm and land a poison. You cannot heal over a poison, must cure first. Mind blast here will make you want to have somewhat balanced stats (example 90s/45d/90mana as a mage) and can hurt if your hit with MB after they debuff and maybe even buff you. There's more info out there. Also we have CTF (instanced pvp in a few different special closed maps with points for flag captures, healing and kills, with trophies awarded for each category) and over world duel pits with a duel ranking system. Chris aka Telamon has really made one hell of a shard/server with no cheesy pay 2 play shops, when you list all of the content. guide index - http://www.uorforum.com/threads/one-guide-to-rule-them-all-one-guide-to-find-them.682/ pvp guide - http://www.uorforum.com/threads/the-newbie-refresher-guide-to-pvp.2666/
Welcome to our world. Artex just about said it all. Will add, we have a fantastic player community here with many different kinds of player hosted events. Be sure to keep up with that thread here on forums. Oh we don't have powerscrolls here, but do have afk macroing of skills only, glad to have you aboard. in game: Marjo, Governess of Wispfelt Village irc: Westra
